Solution for H-scroll?

You might have picked up on this, but I (and most of the internet) absolutely hate horizontal scroll.

I think I've posted this solution before, but there's been a change of who's in charge and I've forgotten the answer I was given. Anyway, I suggest that instead of a single post screwing up the entire page, just make the single post cell scroll horizontally and make the rest of the page keep its format.

I don't imagine it would be much work to make this happen, as both certain LiveJournal themes and the boards at the Straight Dope both work this way.

You imagine wrong. Blame phpBB for this, as the table formatting is what allows this to happen.
