A few things:
1) If you're aware that your writing is confusing, then why don't you try to clear it up a bit (like, say, using capitalization at the beginning of sentences and such) so that it's not so confusing?
2) If you're considering a Cobalt Flux, post in the Cobalt Flux thread.
3) There's a line in the START HERE sticky thread that says, "
DO NOT POST A 'WHICH PAD SHOULD I GET?' [...] THREAD." I imagine that applies to whether or not you should get a new soft pad. Personally, I'd say no, since all soft pads will die quickly.
Going back to point 1, you could have written your post like the following:

Hello, everyone.
I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I post this in the wrong forum. However, I got a soft pad two weeks ago, and it just broke. I don't know why. It's a model that lights up, but it's not responding.
I guess it's done for. Should I buy a new soft pad (one of those $15-30 models)? I'd like to know if it's worth it, since I don't have much money. Currently, I'm working my way from Standard to Heavy, and am considering a Cobalt Flux.
If I bought another soft pad and modded it with a chairmat and wood, would it last longer? Pads modded like that sure look sturdier. I imagine that mine broke from overuse--perhaps the sensors burned out.
Should I limit my playing time to keep the sensors from breaking down?
Thank you.
