|
|
Our DDR machine here in town has had it's right speaker out for the longest time and the manager & his techs can't seem to figure out whats wrong. It kinda sucks because the songs are in stereo and lots of songs have beats that play only through the right speaker making it difficult to time steps based on those beats. The manager says he can fix it if he had the documentation for the machine. But apparently he has everything but the speaker documentation.
If anyone here know how to fix those speakers or has access to a manual with directions, could you please private message me. Or if you have a link for an online manual that I could print the required pages so they can finally get the malfunctioning speaker fixed, I would greatly appreciate it. Honestly, you'd think fixing 1 speaker wouldn't be a problem.. but it's been this way for 4 months now!
Thanks in advance. |

check the wiring for the speakers
if not that it's probably a broken amp/sound board
happened to our machine two times _________________

Here is the problem. It is NOT a defective speaker I would guess. 99% of the time the problem is a blown I.C in the preamp section. If a qualified technician has tried working on this machine, they should have already determined that one of the four audio channels is dead. This is easy to confirm by swapping the RCA jacks around at the input side of the amp board.
Tell the techs to replace the 6 pin I.C. that corresponds to that dead channel in the pre-amp section of the audio board. We have had these take a dump many times now amongst all our DDR machines. |

It's a Namco arcade. There aren't any in store techs; troubleshooting is done over the phone and can be a long, time consuming process. Replacing an IC isn't as simple as saying "Hey, send me an IC". You have to explain exactly what the problem is, and even if you're 99% sure of the solution, you still have to do what they tell you (check voltages, swap parts) until they're satisfied that you're not just a moron. And then you either have to ship the board in for repair, which usually takes 3-5 days (a lifetime of downtime for a DDR machine), or if you're lucky they'll actually send you a replacement part first.
Hopefully your manager will be smart enough to know how to work the tech dept. and get the parts he needs, but from the few times I've been there, I kind of have my doubts.... _________________

i know this doesnt help but i thought it was kinda funny... the machine in the arcade i go to had the two speakers on the top go bad, so they bought 2 offbrand speakers that looks like it goes to some cheap small boom box and they just zip tied them to the bottom of the broken speakers and wired them up from there. also it has step mania bars and the left selection button doesnt work on the right side... also its missing alot of bolts lol. but i love that machine. _________________
