First off, I DID check the FAQs and used the search button, but with no luck. My problem is that if I hold the left or right arrows on my pad, and then hit down, the down does not register. This means I can't do any left+down or right+down steps. If it matters, I am using the official Konami soft pad that came with Max 2 on PS2, and a S-Joy converter. I tried with my regular PS2 controller, and there are no problems at all. Also, I can play the playstation games with the pad without any problems at all. Any help is much appreciated. THANKS

If you hit left + right or up + down at the same time does it register or is it just with the down arrow?

I can do every possible combination except left+down or right+down. Left+right and up+down work fine (after the up+start+select code, of course)

That's very odd that it would be isolated like that. If you're using Windows XP try going to Control Panel > Game Controllers and then clicking properties for your ps2 controller adapter. One of the tabs should show you all of the buttons and axises. The button #'s light up when you hit one. See if it works when you do it through that page.

Here's what's wierd when I use the option in control panel: As long as I don't hit any buttons at all other than down, it works fine. However, if I hold either left or right prior to hitting down, it does not register it, unless I put my entire foot down (as in, not just my toes, like for when I would do rapid taps) on only the very top part of the arrow. So, in order to work as it is now, I need to stomp on the entire top length of the down arrow for it to register.

BTW, thanks for the help so far. I really appreciate it.

Maybe that pad is just drawing too much voltage from your converter or something. You might've ripped one of the contacts while playing and it's shorting it. There are plenty of things that could go wrong. I'd try a different dance pad, maybe a friends or something, and see if that works. If the other one works fine obviously the pad is the problem...
