Is it necessary to mod the Konami pad in Xbox bundle?

Hello,

I am a newbie to DDR and have been reading the FAQ'a section. I have heard some good things about this Konami pad that comes with the bundle but was wondering if I need to mod it? I haven't even used it yet so I fgured if I am going to do something now is the time to do it. I plan on playing on very cusy carpet. I liked the mod posted by PitterPanda but obviously don't want to go through the hassle unless it is necessary. What does everyone think?

my opinion: don't bother modding, i have been using a soft pad for almost a year and have only reacently playing songs and bunching up and missing steps,

it also matters how hard the songs you play and how often you play them.

if you play on carpet that is soft, i reccomend using some plywood as a base. it will certainly improve the lifespan of the pad and if you ever want to play in an arcade or anything those pads arent exactly soft like carpetting

Soft pads suck period. But I would mod it to hold you over until you can buy a better one, or BUILD YOUR OWN. Modding extends the life of the pad, makes it feel more like the arcade (as much as is possible for a soft pad), and keeps it from sliding around as much. Go for it!
