if you want this to be a donkey conga thread, then maybe you should edit the title so it doesn't look like it belongs in the non music games forum _________________

I am going to buy Donkey Konga for sure. It's a great game (I played the demo) and I think I might even build a dance pad to try making a dance game out of it. _________________

Games I will get in the next few months: Donkey Konga, Midway Arcade Treasures 2, Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 2, Mario Tennis, Mario Party 6.
That's like as many games as I've bought over the past 3 years or something. _________________

As crazy as this sounds, Donkey Konga is the sole reason for me even getting a GameCube. Though I think I will hoe the game out pretty fast. On the demo, I ran through Busy Child on the harder level after about 3 games of regular play. I even had a small crowd of people watching me. Twas neat. |

I got Donkey Konga today. My friend at the store said that I was lucky for preordering since they had so many preorders on this that they don't even have any to sell to the public that didn't preorder and they were sold out already.
Haha, Donkey Konga owns by the way. My hands kind of hurt from playing so much though. :-/ _________________

I got the US release. It's fun. But yeah, we'll see how long the fun lasts for me. _________________

I have a random question for everyone who's bought the game. What was your instruction booklet(s) like? When I opened my copy up yesterday, I had both English and French on the game case, and English and French in the instruction booklet. Did our store (Close to Fort Worth, TX) get Canadian copies accidentally, or what? It still plays fine and all that, but I'm just wondering. _________________

I picked up my copy in Minnesota. The box set is trilingual on the back (English, Spanish, and French). There was a loose Spanish instruction manual inside. The instruction manual inside the plastic disc case is English and French. My guess is that Nintendo made the North American release trilingual just to make production and distribution far easier around the continent.
Oh, and as far as the game itself goes, I'm having lots of fun with it. Already I've blown through all the songs on Monkey and Chimp difficulties with little trouble, getting golden DK symbols next to each song on the select screen. It seems like all you need to do is finish the song with a full meter to get the golden DK symbol for the song, the judgment ratios and combo don't seem to count for anything in that sense. Right now, I'm racking up a few more coins to buy the last three Gorilla level songs. Hopefully, that should provide a bit more challenge. And if not, there is always the Jam mode difficulties (not the multiplayer Jam Session) where all the drum notes are blank and you have to remember the correct drum(s) to hit. I think the claps are still marked, however? Anyway, between Donkey Konga and DDR EX US right now, I'm a very happy rhythm gamer. |

Yes, that's the same as what I got. I got mine in downtown San Francisco by the way. Oh and I haven't played that much but I will play more. This game kicks buttocks and I've even forgotten about playing Extreme. =O _________________

I think it's even worse than that. There is already a Donkey Konga "2nd Mix" out in Japan, if I'm not mistaken. The increase in difficulty is a lot sharper from Chimp up to Gorilla than was from Monkey up to Chimp. It takes me at least a few plays through on each song to get a gold DK rating now on Gorilla. |
