Thanks. I'll check my PS2 version tomorrow to see if it's compatible (combo says for ver. 4-8, if it's lower/higher i'll have to look elsewhere :/). _________________

Do you have a burned game or a different JP game you could try? That way you could tell for sure if the problem is your copy of EX JP or the swap disc (using an American game doesn't seem like a very conclusive test to me).
I'm out of ideas. |
it's the right disc. also, i dont have any other imported or burned games

thanks for your help, though |

Ok so my PS2 is compatible and i'll be ordering soon. Is there any guide on how to install a fliptop for v4-v7/8? I can only find them for v9 and v12. _________________

This is probably old news to most of you, but I have done this myself and it works, so I know it does. Get your PS1 imports ready! For sure way to do it! Flip top is required
1. Launch the PS2 with NO disc and go into the browser menu
2. Put in a legit PS1 game
3. After it says reading disc, open the flip top, and take out the spinning disc, be careful while doing so.
4. With the thing in the middle still spinning, put in your import/
5. Launch it. _________________

How would that not work with PS2 games then?
It sounds good, but it can probably kill your disc and unless it can work with backups I wouldn't advise doing so.
Anyways anyone in the US/Canada I suggest getting a fliptop from
modchip.ca. I live in Las Vegas and my order for the fliptop a couple months ago was processed almost instantly and my fliptop arrived in perfect condition, although it did take a bit of effort to get the fliptop on (that's not really the site's problem though), so be very careful with it.
Just ordered my Swap magic yesterday from there and yet again it was processed instantly and should be shipping by monday. Downside right now is unless you select shipping from fedex (which is like, $25 but overnight) your order may take a little longer to arrive (it's 4-8 days with their standard selected shipping from USA Express but isn't guaranteed before Christmas right now).
Hopefully mine will arrive within this week !. _________________

I have a slim PS2 and a Memor32/Memento mod "memory card". I have been using it to play backup copies of my games without problem until yesterday when I tried to play SN2 online. When trying to go online the game performs some sort of hardware check and it fails the check. Presumably it's to test for mod chips (and obviously it works!) Is there any way around this? I am able to get online when booting my original copy of SN2, so obviously I've been doing that.
This brings up a related question, related to this thread - will it be possible (if you could get around the aforementioned problem) to play the JPN SN2 online while playing it in the US? I'm guessing the answer is no as the servers would only work in Japan, but I figured I'd ask. |

Any American PS2 controller will work on a Japanese PS2 or Japanese software or whatever. Same with dance mats, hori sticks, etc. |

Okay, so www.swapnslide.com doesn't sell Swap Magic anymore. Are there any other reliable, trustworthy sites out there that still sell the Flip-top/Swap Magic combo? _________________
