What is this called?

I'm wondering if there's a technical or musical term for this. What is it called when you have the skipping beats like in Tsugaru or Matsuri Japan? I know in those songs, the skips come at 16th notes prior to, or after the quarter notes.

And I'm guessing the same thing would apply to the skipping 12th notes in Burning Heat! (3 Option Mix).

Is there a technical term for those skipping beats, perhaps in terms of the time signature? Skips? Lags? Trips? I dunno. I thought I remembered hearing a word that specifically refered to that, but I can't remember exactly.

As chenny said, in DDR-terms they're considered "gallops". In musical terms, I have no idea what they're called.

They're called "dotted eighth sixteenth" notes. It's a dotted eighth note followed by a sixteenth note.
