We can only hope? I know I am sick to death of all the GH/RB stuff. bleh I know DDR doesn't teach you how to dance, but at least you're moving. These guitar/band games sure aren't going to teach anyone how to really play a guitar or drum - and there's little physical benefit to those games.

Actually playing drums on Rock Band totally does teach you to play drums reasonably well. It's not exactly the same as playing a real kit, but you could certainly sit down at a MIDI kit and lay down some tracks. |

Perhaps I missed it, but has anyone mentioned the change in the difficulty ratings? (many songs are 10's; difficulty goes up to 18 I understand) I haven't played the game yet, but this seems like a silly attempt by Konami to make everything look harder than it is; or is this just an attempt to make DDR more like PIU? Regardless, it makes it impossible to compare difficulty of songs between mixes. Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

The rating change is likely a response to the rating complaints in SN2.
I like it better simply because now its easier to tell what you're getting into (For someone playing SN2 for the first time, they'll play Arrabbiata thinking it won't be too crazy, and Uranus thinking its going to be a...10). _________________

I agree and personally I like the new rating system a lot. 7's, 8's, 9's and 10's needed to be further spaced out, as a lot of them aren't in the same realm of difficulty. I just hope the older songs receive appropriate ratings once we get the arcade version. _________________

i haven't picked up ddrx yet, but i fell victim to the ratings in sn2.
going up to a higher difficulty just lets you better asses difficulties.

How can you not enjoy DDR X? Admiring the song list is the primary reason I enjoy the title like I do.
Maybe I'm just a DDR newb and haven't played enough games but I think that out of the 4 DDR titles I've played; DDR X, DDR Encore, ITG and ,DDR SN2 that X has the best song list. Or perhaps I just enjoy happy hardcore and j-pop/rock too much. |

You really should pick up some old mixes sometime. |

Hi Duffman, don't know but doubt it.
DDR X is, I believe? the first Console for PS2 (3 if you have a BC one) that has mixes.
Chenny, I absolutely refuse to play Lift You Up. Had to during the games master challenge and that was that. Song is like a bad Idol reject, ugh.
Yeah, there's a few bad songs, but there's imho a lot of good songs. The only thing, after playing a ton of ITG? the arrows on X for some reason are honestly hard as heck to read - it's like they're semi-transparent or something. And yes, using the screen, etc.
All in all though, I do like X, I like it a heck of a lot more than SN2 and SN? I don't touch, I hate that one. _________________

i just got DDR X a few days ago. i'd have to say i think the game is pretty decent. i like most of the songs in it, but a lot of them are so much...easier than in the other games i've played.
in MAX2, EXTREME2, and SN, i cannot get an A on difficult mode to save my life. in X, it's a totally different story. on top of that, there seems to be little to no difference between beginner and basic. normally i like to play endless mode on basic for as long as i can. in X, the basic steps are so simple that it just gets boring.
nevertheless, i do like the game. the song list is its most redeeming quality.
EXTREME2 will definitely always be my favorite though _________________

DDRmunki has obviously not heard of DDR Universe 2-3, I take it. |
