I have the black "textured" one, my buddy has the clear. He and I both prefer the black ones over the clear. Clear can really make your shoes grip (I know, it sounds counter-intuitive, but it's true) and the clear lexan squeaks really loudly on his. It got to the point that he had to place paper towels under the raised lexan so it wouldn't squeak from rubbing against the lower lexan panel.

I agree with Suko get the black.

And yes, the mod is very much worth it, especially if you play doubles.
There doubles link bar sucks tho, I have never gotten the thing to stay put, even with washers.

I bought 2 long metal bars and screwed them in over the top side (and bottom side) of the corner plates linking the pads. Haven't had them separate since, but... the space between them is larger than normal.

hey! so i'm determined to buy a flux after careful research. i was set on the afterburner for quite a while tho, but i want an investment and will be willing to throw an extra 100 or so for that "insurance".

question for the blades. are light mods possible on this thing? can you make it light up when u step on it?

and a quick question. should i worry about the control box? or is it okay after years of taking a beating? cause i heard if the control box goes, the whole thing goes.

thanks and dance on

Just bought a used Cobalt Flux. Guy said he'd had it for about a year and a half.

Anyway to tell the difference between a v1 and v2 pad?

The control box only has the PS connectors, so I'm thinking that it's a v1, but wanted to make sure.

Hi Evedell

Since yours appears to be PS2 only, I'd guess? it's a v.1. I'm basing that on CF's site and the cb for their current pad which is supposed to work with PS, PS2, Xbox and PC.

AFAIK, you can't use a v.2 cb with a v.1 pad. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere here on the forum - the pins on the cb are different.

I don't know if there's a serial or model number anywhere on the pad but if there is, along with the number of pins your pad's cb has, maybe you could write to support at CF with the information and see if they can tell you for sure which version you have.

Should I be concerned that it only took two days for my pad to ship? Are they laxing their QC or are they just a lot more streamlined? E19.gif

EDIT:
Well, it works well, but the construction looks like it was a bit rushed. Nothing too weird happening, a bit miffed by how easy it is to trigger L/R from standing on the center button though.

Okay, I need help with getting my several year old CF back in GOOD working condition. My problem is I press down an arrow and it works... then when I let go, I get another arrow press that I DON'T want (i.e. the sheet metal is bending and hitting twice when it shouldn't). I just finished cleaning my CF and bending the sheet metal backwards (it was bent inward toward the ground). Any ideas on what to do? I'm going to try unscrewing the screws a bit to see if that helps...

EDIT: FIXED: My center wire was taped down a while earlier, and it was getting a flaky connection. I soldered it down, and now everything works GREAT! I can finally get good scores and pass 12's and 13's again! I even nearly passed a 14 no bar! woo hoo

What the frick!? SOmeone help me. The wire going to my right arrow just like broke off during Paranoia Hades expert. I just failed it and I was like WTF? and then I checked the pad and the whole god damn yellow wire was detached from the metal sheet. How the frick do I fix this? I have had the pad for less than 2wks and it already broke. I don't want to pay 140$ for shippping there and back for poopy wiring.

could you please post pictures of your pad with the yellow wire detached/broken?

you could simply solder it back to the metal plate, as the guy in the previous post did. tell us your results.

Ok, I just got my doubles pack in the mail. ALready one of them dosen't work. One of the bottons died. I called them and from what it sounds like, they did the freaking wiring wrong on the pad! So now I have to ship it back. I really wanted to go with mymybox, but their customer service sucks and iv'e been on their waiting list for a blue shark for almost a year now. It's a shame no other metal pad makers use REAL arcade sensors like mymybox >.<

Wow, is CF paying for the shipping since it's their fault? I would probably try to fix the pads myself through soldering or something else--the way CF is supposed to secure the wires.

I have such terrible luck with these things. Both of them worked fine until I hooked them up togather to play doubles, then the left arrow just died. I tried doing everything the booklet told me b4 i called them up and then the guy on the phone had me look inside the pad and he asked me if i saw a yellow wire, and i said no, it's red, and he's like...it's supposed to be yellow....they wired the pad wrong! So now i have to repack that monster and ship it back. I so wish I had the mymybox pad with the real arcade sensors, but mymybox customer service flat out sucks, and iv'e been waiting for them for almost a year now. These metal dance pads are such a risk! I might as well just bribe an arcade for an itg 2 dedi cab eh? biggrin.gif and yes, they are paying for shipping. The one good thing i can say about them is that they are very helpful and polite on the phone and they do care about their customers unlike mymybox
