Not sure why everyone's calling this game crap really. The songs aren't the best quality ever in a DDR game, but most of the stepcharts are amazing.
Now all they have to do is continue the stepchart trend and add some bemani love to the AC version and we'll have a real winner there. _________________

Behold. Opinions.
Hmm... okay... well, I'm ready to move on and away from the big, piping hot, steaming plate of turd known as DDRX. (DUB-I-DUB's new edit not only starts at the second verse, but you can still hear the echo from the first chorus when it starts! Shitty, shoddy, unacceptable. What is this? Ultramix/Universe?)
Shame on anyone who finds this sort of product acceptable! Unexciting licenses, the new KO's are either poorly produced wannabe-pop crap (I say wannabe-pop because calling it pop would be an insult to the pop genre!) or better suited to an RPG soundtrack. No thank you!
I'm much more interested in what the 30+ Disney-related songs on the master list are for. Let's see what that is!
Man... I have had such a full day of venomous hating on DDRX that I totally forgot that DDRHP2 is out today! Yay! CALL ON ME! The new KO's will probably be just as shitty over there though! I suppose they will have to be a necessary evil. *sigh~* |

good step charts =/= good songs
You know, I've always hated the whole "this song is good, because the chart is good" crap excuse. A fierce step chart DOES NOT turn a shitty song into a golden goose egg. If this is the case, then why even bother with the songs at all? Just put the tv on mute and have at it. |

Now that I think about it, most of the KOs I really like in this game came from SN2 AC (although I kinda don't mind that, not having access to SN2)..... And the only really outstanding licenses are Hero (BEST EVER!) and U Can't Touch This (along with the other X-Edits, although they're somewhat oddly cut.), but I don't really understand the mostly shoddy license list, anyway. Seriously, there's not even a "Featuring artists such as...." list on the back of the case, which really makes this game seem crappier than it really is (For me, it was one known song, a cover of a known song, and two songs I don't care about). It's no EX2 (far from it), but it's not half bad. The KOs aren't the best, but they're not that crappy either. Still, more BEMANI artists would've done the game a lot of justice and made it a lot better. I like HP2 KO artists, but I can't find my Nunchuk
In all honesty, these three games seem to have terrible to meh license lists, and X probably has the best so far simply due to X-Edits. HP2, like the first, is mostly comprised of covers, but they added original songs from artists I don't really care about. Uni3 has Canned Heat, and maybe a few more good ones.
Not as great as I said it was earlier, but not crappy. This one definitely got the better SN2 songs, though. _________________

Has anyone unlocked a majority of the unlockable songs yet? I just wanna know all the old classic songs from previous mixes that are on this game? ? By the looks so far though it seems most of these songs are new to ddr except for the few SN2 songs and the few ddr 1st mix songs. |

I didn't say the songs were BAD, but they're not as good as some of the bemani artists songs.
The Darwin songs are awesome, Waiting 4 u reminds me a lot of Why Not, Bill Hamel has some nice house songs, DKC Crew songs are ok etc. etc.
They're not as good as a lot of the stuff that SN2 pumped out, but it's not like SN2 US had the best selection from SN2 AC now did it? _________________

lol I just saw the whole songlist on youtube, wow what a poopy songlist. This has got to be the worst US DDR to date. poopy announcer, poopy menu displays, poopy songs... I think out of the 70 or so songs on this list only 13 - 15 are recognizeable... What the hell are those other songs? I was hoping there'd be alot more songs from previous mixes that havent been in a US game... This is why I REALLY can't wait for the JP release. |

So Konami FINALLY Listens and gives hardcore players great stepcharts but give us casual-core players a crappy songlist.
Konami dropped the ball and dropped it hard for DDR X. I don't care what anyone says!!!
This will be the first playstation ddr that I simply won't buy (And i've got them all! Even Disney Channel Edition!). I just can't bring myself to buy something as bad as DDR X... |

This thread just exemplifies everything wrong with the US DDR "hardcore" fans:
Fans: "We're tired of OLD songs! We want NEW songs"
Konami: "Here's a whole BUNCH of NEW songs for you to play"
Fans: "What, no OLD songs? We want the DDR classics!"
Konami: "OK, here are some older songs from past mixes for you!"
Fans: "Those aren't the ones that I wanted!"
Konami: "Oh, ok. Uh...how are you enjoying the diverse set of licenses?"
Fans: "Konami, you sellouts! How dare you put in regocnizeable popular music in the game! You're pandering to the masses!"
Konami: "Ooops...how about a bunch of indie music like you guys like from the Xbox mixes. We've got lots of A Different Drum artists showcasing their talents!"
Fans: "What!? I don't recognize any of these "licenses!" Why don't you have any recognizeable popular songs on the list!?"
Konami: "Ok, ok. Are you at least enjoying those new difficult stepcharts? You wanted more challenge in the game, right?"
Fans: "No, they're TOO hard! I want a challenge as dictated completely by my personal tastes alone! I want to just jog in place as fast as possible to techno music! No, wait...I want complicated technical charts! And I'd BETTER be able to AAA it on my first try! These challenges need to last for a while too. It's boring when I can master a chart quickly!"
Konami: "While you figure all of that out, we're gonna take a swim in this big pile of money we have..." _________________

My have at DDRX!
Monday was awesome. Gamestop had it, I wanted it, they told me they couldn't sell it, and I put my hands together in prayer and said "Oh please please please please sell it to me today!", begged like a little dog, and said "We can pretend its tomorrow!" And sold it they did.
You know, I loved SN2US so much that I cuddle with it at night and share my hopes and dreams with its instruction booklet over candlelit dinner, so anything else would be a guaranteed letdown right? I mean, all the planet songs are the musical enjoyment of a seashell, a seashell slammed against your ear at 800 BPM, so I hate it, right?
Surprisingly no, I don't.
Being that I like black music more than most here, I certainly had things to enjoy. The new videos look very nice, I laughed several times during SMM, the difficulty of SMM didn't cause my brain to melt until I actually liked that crappy Seduction song of years past, and the planet songs weren't hogging the game as I feared they would. Not to mention any overload on Darwin is an overload on greatness.
I disagree with Pie on the charts, O---'s chart anyone? But I enjoy toying around in Edit Mode, so I'll be fine. Also, I hate boss songs, I mean I could just listen to my head banging against the wall from all the EXUS hate and it'd sound exactly the same, but wow if S---- ----'s remix isn't the best sounding boss song we've ever had.
If you're expecting this to be a true 10th anniversary celebration, yeah, its awful, but if you treat it just like every other PS2 USCS mix, its pretty good. Not bad Konami, not bad. Speed mods next time though, okay? _________________

I also agree with Wolfman Jake, but my only complaint is that we never got some of the songs that JP got. If this was supposed to be a 10th anniversary edition, than how come Dance Dance Revolution (the song), was not in it? Also, I personally DONT want alot of old songs because I'm already tired of most of them, I got every DDR from Max up to this one (X). If anything they should do if everyone wants OLD songs is make a greatest hits and have the fans vote on what songs they would like to have. If its more than a certain amount (of songs), then possibly make them by the volume. For now, I'm satisfied with X, though not the best, but I'm willing to give anything a fair chance. |

That would make sense, but when I saw the interviews to the one in charge of DDR home releases in USA, I had a feeling we will not see many of the songs we want until he leaves Konami. He's in love with mainstream music over KO's and not spending the right amount of time and effort to get the licenses from the "DanceMania" songs we had been asking for PS2 CS releases for YEARS! They need someone who can create a balance, and he's the one that is NOT allowing it since EX-SN.
Now, let me ask you all a question. Would it make sense to have an Arcade release to Console be released after the arcade version is actually out in the USA? My suggestion would be for the next major PS2 release (in 2009) to be a greatest hits to catch up with most of the songs that had not been offered on a PS2 release, and hold that AC to CS release for 2010 and make it (perhaps) a PS3 release? This would solve the issue of having all the AC licenses available for CS (in terms of obtaining the proper licenses), and having all the songs (including all the boss songs) listed.
My biggest gripe about X is the fact we are missing two of the planet songs ("Mars Wars 3", and "Jupiter.."), the groove radar specials, and the revivals. And Still NO "Dam Dariram" LOL |

QFT. I saw that songlist spoiler, so I know what I'm getting into. And I got to hear the 'X edits' of the returning songs, they should've called them 'X Re-edit', that would've made more sense.
On that subject... I wonder what Butterfly's new charts look like. _________________

This complaint pisses me off more than anything else, because it leads to unrecognizable song lists. There's good mainstream songs, no matter what anyone says. Unfortunately, Konami seemed to listen to it for ALL 3 GAMES! Damn mainstream complainers.
Moral: Don't complain too much, you might kill the game for a lot of people if Konami listens. Konami, don't remove ideas, just add. Then we'd have recognizable (both by casual and hardcore DDR players) X songs and all the other ones in this game. Then it would be a lot better. No, X doesn't suck, though. They kinda went "mainstream licenses" in SN2 to "Great Revivals, U Can't Touch This, and other crap" licenses in X.
Quote: | Being that I like black music more than most here |
If you mean what I think you mean, I like it too, but the licenses barely did anything for me in that department, unlike they have been doing lately. _________________

...I finally picked up X yesterday, and I'm gonna have to continue giving some of these songs another listen over and over again before I can really give a full opinion on it. As of now, the licenses leave a LOT to be desired. Yes OK GO, and MC Hammer are very nice touches to add, but the others I'm finding unbelieavably underwhelming. It leaves me scratching my head asking "um, Konami?...what were you thinking?" I've said in the past that almost all PS2 US releases has at least one or 2 songs that I question why Konami would put this song in, and with X, I'm asking this way more often.
I dunno who it was, but in an interview that was posted a few weeks back, someone from Konami said that they want to use songs that are considered fun and "dancable" or something...I can't remember the exact quote. Right now?...I'm not finding much "danceabilty" to the songs... I will admit though, the stepcharts are very well put together, but the songs are almost grating to listen to at times. Minor rant from me, but I gotta listen more to the songs to give a fair chance... The Wii's release may win the battle again this year... _________________
