Just got it today. Its a really solid pad. feels like an itg machines pads. i tried to take a arrow off but it seems to be glued down or something. But it looks like it has big metal plates the size of the arrow, kinda like a CF. This is a really good pad, good sensitivity.

Have you tried a CF before? If so, how does it compare? I've been looking at this pad since it seems the bluesharks are never in (and they never responded to an email I sent 3 months ago inquiring..)
I pretty much only play at the arcade because I haven't found a pad that I didn't really dislike... I had a CF for a year and sold it, I didn't like it at all. |

I've had my Blueshark now for a year. It's gone through two moves and sat out on the patio through a So Cal winter. It still works as perfectly as it did when it came out of the box. A bit squeaky, is all. |

Katimae, do you have a blueshark or a nexen?
I know leaving either (or any) outside here on the east coast would be disastrous!
j1ng, how are things going with the Nexen? how's the sensitivity (meaning to you have to really "stomp" or can you just kinda hit even a corner and have it register), how's the weight, does it seem durable? Any ghosting or other oddities? I'm not liking that MMB has stuck the arrow panels down. I think it's a good thing, especially dropping that much money, to be able to look inside and see what you've paid for. Sensors, are the sheet metal, foil, what?
It is one sexy looking pad, I will say that.
Looking forward to another review from you on this one after you've had it for awhile. _________________

Is it worth holding out to see if I can get one of the 3 inch blushark models? or should I just jump in line on the 2 inch model? also does their "Send us and e-mail with your mailing info to reserve a pad in the next shipment" system actually work? or should I just buy a cobalt flux and be done with it?
is the 2 inch still a better pad than a cobalt flux? and how much better is the 3 inch? if I'm a serious player, but not tournament skill level (can clear most 10's and some 11's but never really concerned with AA let alone AAA) and my biggest concern is just that the pad can take a beating from nearly constant use and still play, and a pad that feels as close to the arcade experience as possible is my next concern, is it worth spending the extra $200 on a 2 inch blueshark? or should I just get the CF since it's cheaper and in stock? |

The NexeN pads have both screws and velcro stickers in the corners holding the pads in place. I believe this is the same case as the cobalt flux.
to remove the pads, you have to take out the screws, and use a putty knife to separate the velcros in the two otuside corners and you then lift to separate the two inside velcros. just be careful with the cable in one of the corners. or you might pull them. |

Hmm. . . CF has a patent on their desig now. MMB/Nexen will likely get sued, because from what I can tell, they are the same button mechanism. The one thing that might get in the way in such a case is the fact that CF's design is so simple, that it probably wouldn't hold up in court. It would be like if Ikea sued someone for making a chair that was just a box. _________________

connect your pad to the adapter and plug it into yoyr computer , open up the control panel and open up the game controllers (or joystick) configuration. select joystick 1 (if you plugged the pad to the player 1 plug on the adapter) and go to properties.
now press the red(select), green(start) and up buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. this should put the adapter in dancepad mode, and when you press all 4 pads at the same time, 4 red buttons should light up on the properties box. |

yeah, itd be possible to add a bar yourself to the 2" version.
i would get a piece of 1/2" plywood or something and cut that the size of the base of the blueshark. then, cut holes in the blueshark for the bar to come up, and attach 2 flanges to the blueshark, but having the bar go all way down into the base.
just to be sure its strong enough.. _________________

What I did was just take off the back plate and screw everything straight into the wood. _________________
