Wow, they're really doing good with the artists for HP2. Pretty cool. That's a getter (Now if only I could find my Nunchuk). And as I said before, HERO was probably the song I wanted most in a US DDR, so X automatically wins. Uni3 has 100sec Kitchen Battle, which also wins.

Looks to be a great year for DDR.

Looks like there's a good chance for Ghetto Blasta Deluxe to be on the AC version as well.

I don't see why everyone gets excited for a song to be revived for this release. Almost every one of us has the songs on a previous mix at home. Why does konami feel the need to take up space with songs we already have in other mixes? Tired of it. Just tired of it Konami.

Using MAX 300 as "the bar" at 15, here's where my personal experience with the many of them lies.

The spurty-BPM second verse and the step-step-jump sections justify FAXX's difficulty, the opening run and skippy middle is just fun to play. But FAXX is still harder to me than FELM is (at least on H). The step-jump-step-jump section, along with the weird, offbeat sequence at the end are why TMP H > TMP O, not to mention that the jumps (in H) are often more difficult to execute than the 1/16-spurts (in O); but in all, aren't too much more draining than MAX 300.

With such hits as butterfly, DUB-I-DUB, HERO and GET UP'N MOVE announced, what are we looking at again? Finally a full port of 2nd Mix?
laugh.gif

(Konami should double-check GUM's Double-Heavy chart, just in case...)

You know, I can see a complimentary side-release of "Most replayable hits ever," but I'm a little concerned that this is considered part of the primary release - in *addition* to a decent-sized group of new stages/originals, it makes sense... just not in place of them. And there are *FAR* more and better stages that people would be much more excited to see, I'm sure. I'm sure at least a couple will be mashed into the X-Mixes, at least.

Also: No ports from UM3/4/Universe/Uni2 announced? Heck, even a few more UM2 ones would be cool to see (.59 -remix-, In My Eyes (Midihead Remix), route 80s, R10k?).

Obviously, this is the win. E13.gif

All in all, I'm still looking forward to the new releases.

Well, the revivals are good for those who don't have imports or an XBox. And some of those songs haven't been played at 60fps. At least in the US.

speaking of Ultramix KOs, I'm still waiting for zero-one, ride on the light, big voyager, G2, and Giudecca-to name just a few.

I probably should have just buckled down and imported the jp mix with all of the UM2 songs (which one was that again?)

It sucks though, because as much as I'd love to have all the planet songs, I know they would just be taking up space that could be used for the new DDRX AC songs. You'd think I would have coped with US mixes playing catch up by now.

Simple answer to your question: Compared to the Japanese counterparts for PSOne and PS2, we in America have not gotten many of the licenses that made DDR what it is (whether because of their persistance to use Dancemania license procedures over here which we all know it's nearly impossible, they have no idea on how the RIAA procedures work for licensing, or simply someone at Konami Of America just did not wanted many of the licenses on the limited amount of US mixes, just because his/her focus is on corny mainstream tracks like it happened on SN2). For many of us who do not have modified or imported PS2 units, the "revived songs" (or should I say songs that have not been featured on any PS2 release, or not seen since the very first DDR release for the PSOne) are very welcomed, because of the popularity and the fun charts they have. Also to add to this point is to remind people that Japan has more lax licensing procedures compared to the USA, thanks to RIAA.

Remember that in the Japanese counterparts for the PS1-PS2, we have only gotten six (seven if DCE is included, eight when X comes out) for the PS2, and three for the PS One (DDR, Konamix, DisneyMix), compared to having all mixes released as home console versions, plus Party Collection, Arcade style Extreme, Festival (aka Extreme USA for the interface), and Str!ke, and not to forget the pre-5th mix remixes.

What in hell? Not all of us came to the party at a time when the PS/X games were still in print.

Furthermore, Dub-I-Dub (2008 X-Edit) was purported to be a 13 on heavy on the new scale at E3.

To put that into context, on the new scale, Healing Vision (Angelic Mix), Exotic Ethnic, and V (For Extreme) oni are all rated 13...

So I'm going to be very curious about Dub-I-Dub (2008 X-Edit)'s chart.

For those curious, Butterfly (2008 X-Edit) was rated an 11 at E3 and its chart was at least very similar to the Extreme one.

DEAR GOD WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO THANK YOU PLEASE.
Dub-I-Dub? 13? No, this just doesn't happen. 10 or 11 sure, but 13? NO. I don't know how that song, or any remixes of it, for that matter, could reach the 13 bar. That's just about 2 below MAX300, and according to Pie~, it's just as hard as Sakura.
I'm prolly gonna contradict myself now, but X isn't really looking up. Sure there are a few good songs, but where are my KOs? My revivals? MY BABIES ARE GONNEEEE (Sorry that had to be there.) I ask Konami to look through IIDX 10th-14th as well as PnM 10-15. You might find some gems in there, I don't know.

Above user doesn't realize that the difficulty curve from a 9 or 10-footer (taking after SN2 here, durr) is a sharp turn toward hardness.

Obviously Konami is not doing a gradual step up here. The way difficulties are sorted and arranged are still here.

And to add to what Pie~ said, not everyone and their mother imports or knows how. DDR 2nd Mix is one of the two playstation games I do not own, so HERO was a welcomed addition to me. Going by your logic, the song should be removed because you or someone you know has 2nd Mix, while I don't? I don't so.

You know, I'm sorta wondering if they're even gonna put OK Go's treadmill video on this game. I mean, the thing's all shot in one take, so if Konami edits the song down there'll be an obvious seam in the video. Unless they just pull an outta-nowhere fadeout like in Say Goodbye.

Sorry to bring up an older quote, but what about the fade like Love At First Sight on MAX2?

I haven't seen OK Go's video so I can't judge on it.

It's logical to not take up space on a NEW MIX with songs already released on older mixes. I think Konami does this to save money.

The older games are still available, if you want to play HERO etc....go buy them. I do understand it will be pain in the A since you have to mod/etc. Also Hero is an okay song and people are acting like it's the best thing in the world...but after a few plays you'll be done, then what was all that about , huh? :O)

If you started DDR when it first came out you'd know how annoying it is to see the same songs over and over and over and over when we could have a brand new song in its place.

Konami will do whatever THEY want anyway, I have no control on what they put on their releases. I do think Konami has forgotten the people who have been their from the start. This is just my opinion.

If the songs are new versions of the old songs then that's cool with me, otherwise, another wasted space on the wheel.

Yeah, they are all new 2008 X-edit's.

But as for old revivals, I prefer having them. I'll go back to certain mixes both American and Japanese to play songs. I'll even play Rhythm & Police for example on both Party Collection and MAX USA, it just depends on what OTHER songs are included in the mix. I want to be able to play certain combination of songs without resorting to my simfiles. But that's my own 2 cents....

Just as long as Konami doesn't go crazy over it. SuperNOVA JP brought back the Ultramix/Festival steps that got changed a 3rd time for example, and SuperNOVA 2 JP brought back some awesome Konami Originals, such as Afronova, AM-3P, and those 6 songs with new challenge charts (along with the originals). Those are welcome revivals in my book, but again, it depends on what other songs I want to play along with them. I personally like having AM-3P on almost every mix, this way I can work it into whatever set I feel like doing at the time.

I agree older songs are great, i often pop in an older mix and dance away. I just like to have NEW stuff for my money is all and hate paying for same songs over and over E13.gif guess we'll find out on the 16th-17th.
