Okay, so I woke up at 8 this morning and got working at 10.

By the time I came inside for dinner, I had this:

Those are two frames on top of each other. The one on the bottom doesn't have any wires in it and neither of them are nailed together or have the edges attached yet.

Overhead view of the same.

This was actually around 3pm; you can see the 3 other bases sitting to the left.

4 pads = A TON OF SENSORS. I'll be trying an experiment hex-point sensor method with these pads that should improve sensitivity by about 15% and also improve the feel, as well as saving about three dollars in material cost.

Also. . .

The Cube! 11" stack of 11"panels. There are 22 panels in that stack. (It actually measures to 10 7/8"x10 7/8"x10 13/16")

I took 12 other pictures, all of which are in that PhotoBucket album. Feel free to peruse at your leisure. :]

I'm gonna be stoked when these are finished.

BTW J1ng how exactly did you make the bar? All I need is measurements really, like the height of the 2 posts and the length of the handle part. Is there a specific kind of elbow you used?

Did you have to cut anything? Or did you just drill the holes and put it on? (Yeah I know you probably didn't cut metal pipe lol)

How high is it? Is it 36" like arcade pads, or close to it?

Got two more under a tarp on my deck. Got a little more work to do but should finish all 4 of them tomorrow.

EDIT: no, I didn't cut my hair; that's a friend of mine.

@DT: are you using a piece of MDF or something to cover in sheet metal, then put that on top of the 3/4" other wood? thats what it looks like, and i like that idea..might have to look into that if i ever get the funds to build more

@Lucho: holy crap, thats a nice looking pad. did you make another for doubles (i see the angled one end) also, it looks like the corner brackets dont have any screws in them..

i have to redo all the sensors on 2 of my pads (that will be sold to someone), and replace the sensors+arrow panels in a TX style pad that will be mine unless someone wants to buy it that i know.

i will get pics if i remember to

Yep... it's the same old Konami softpad that came with my copy of SuperNova. After almost two years of use the plastic has torn away on the lower edge by the down arrow, but it still works just as well as the day I got it. E1.gif How do I keep it from slipping...? Why, it's velcroed to the carpet.

I just did them like normal, but use a Hardboard (like MDF, but I think it's actually denser. . . HDF?) panel cut 1/8" under the size I wanted, and cut a 12" square panel of steel. Cut the corners to the right size, then clamped a 11" square of plywood to each side. Once it was clamped, it was easy to bend each tab (used 26ga. steel) just by pushing it with my fingers or against a hard surface like the floor or table. Then I took the plywood off and bent the tabs in. I'll make a quick video tomorrow showing how to do it. I might just send it to you though; those panels might be too marketable to post publicly. Well I don't have any pictures of mine but if you want a visual, it's a gamestop soft pad duct taped to the floor to keep it from moving. I'd try to make my own but I have neither the know-how, nor attention span to take on a project that complex. riiight.gif

It's some super-cheap TX2000 imitation, with lexan panels. I think I should remove the LEDs since the panels will break really easy since they can bend (its like a bridge - one light at one end of the pad, another light at the other end - there is no center light, allowing the panel to bend and in the future, break/crack).

The LED's won't affect the breaking of the panels. Just put a metal spacer between the foil and the sensor plate.

Or sheet metal mod it.

"aviation snips" also sometimes referred to as tin snips

$10-$25 at any hardware store. Get the offset ones so that you can make longer straight cuts without having to bend the sheet metal.

Quoted for emphasis.

When using them, see if you can find a way to add tension. You'll cut through 26ga. steel like a hot knife through warm butter if you can.
