i want konami to go back to the max/max 2 US era licences. Stuff like dark black forest, sandstorm, take me away, love at first sight, and will i. the mainstream electronic music/trance works well with DDR and people still recognize the songs. Groove Coverage would be excellent. This is how i think the songlist for DDR games should go
5 Mainstream songs everyone old and young knows
5 More Modern Mainstream songs
5 Remixes of mainstream songs
8 relatively unknown licences(dancemania/electronica)
7 dancemania licence revivals from older DDR mixes.
35 new konami originals
15 konami original revivals.
That's 80 songs.

I just realized. We haven't heard anything about new characters. Or old characters while we're at it (by which I mean characters that didn't appear in SN or SN2, like characters from EX2 & EX) |
I gave up on Wookie Wookie. I've been waiting since before Supernova CS came out, it will never come, neither will Paranoia Respect.
I seriously only look on DDRFreak when the new DDR CS is gonna come out, and half my posts are like "plx wookie wookie and paranoia respect kthx".

Well, didn't we say the same thing about Butterfly? And now not only did we get the Upswing Mix in EX2, but I believe the mix in DDRX is brand new; either specifically for X, or a DDR-length edit of a new remix. _________________

Ok this is driving me crazy. Does a cover version of this song show up on any DDR mix? Because i feel like it does. IMO somebody stepped Danzel's version of this song for ITG and it seems like everyone knows it. _________________

HOORAY FOR CONTROVERSY.
5 Mainstream songs everyone old and young knows
5 More Modern Mainstream songs
5 Remixes of mainstream songs
8 relatively unknown licences(dancemania/electronica)
7 dancemania licence revivals from older DDR mixes.

j'aime imputs: 5 boss songs, plz.
That's 80 songs. |
YOU ARE MY NEW HERO.
First of all, (clear your schedules, everyone.) the MAX2 licenses were probably the best. I think it's because Konami wanted to net as many DDR fans as possible for the beginning of the series. Sandstorm was one of the more popular tunes in that time period (200...1?), so of course n00bs and expert players alike would flock to that one song. Will I? and Take Me Away promoted new artists (or little-known ones) that are probably making loads of cash just from DDR.
And about your songlist. There are a few things that I would change.
5 Mainstream songs everyone old and young knows: Mixed feelings. I'm sure that I want less of these, but if Konami wants to believe that they're still 21, if you know what I'm saying, let them. I personally would bring it down to 2, 3 or 4 mainstream songs.
5 More Modern Mainstream songs: No. Sorry, but, as I said in my previous rants, the newest mainstream songs on DDR are horrible. Sorry, but PLEASE don't infest my DDRX, Britney Spears and Chris Brown! Keep to NORMAL mainstream songs. I would bring it to 4 or 5 more regular mainstreams.
5 remixes: More mixed feelings. The Butterfly Upswing on EX2 was horrible, as was the 'rendition' of Oops I Did It Again. Sorry, but either stick to the NORMAL mixes or GOOD mixes. I'm trying to think of one good license remix in a DDR game...*thinks for a while*...Well, if Dances and Chorus on EX2 would count as a remix of a classical song, then yes. It was good. I'll keep this the way it is.
8 relatively unknown licenses/7 dancemania license revivals from older DDR mixes: THIS IS WHY YOU ARE MY HERO END OF SENTENCE.
35 new konami originals: Why are you so awesome? IDEA: Let's compile a list of good KOs and send 'em to Konami? Even though the game's only a month away, maybe we could impact X2? (This could work with Licenses, too.)
15 konami original revivals: I have one word for you: SYNC.
ADDED: 3 Boss Songs. In SN2, 5 was WAYYYY too much, in SN, so was 4. But in EX2, MAX2 and MAX, 2 was too little. (Extreme doesn't count. Trip Machine Survivor and Maximizer w/o Oni steps don't count as boss songs, except maybe not TMS.) Three would be fine, especially if they're good songs and hard, i.e. Max., Pluto, Relinquish would be nice |

Um... Butterfly Upswing Mix is an old Dancemania License from 3rd Mix, it wasn't new to Ex2. Those two quotes kinda contradict themselves.

It's not a classical song. That's V.

Refer back to Konami and requests. Not to mention the song is garbage anyway >.<

Oz. I could be wrong about whether or not it's classical and if it's really based off of a real Polotsvian Dance, but somebody could have very easily written it. I could be wrong, I don't know much about the song.
Also, I'm sorry, but I believe you're in the minority of opinions about Butterfly Upswing... _________________

Sry, not video. And I'm pretty sure that something played by a local symphonic orchestra isn't a DDR tune.
&& NP. I'm in the minority opinions for most DDR stuffs.

Yes, Polovtsian Dances and Chorus is based on a classical piece (As I remember, it was composed in the late 1800s).
Also: I love how people bring up the Britney Spears song in SN2 as "OMG MAINSTREAM MUSIC IN DDR IS SOOO BAD".
Uh...sorry, but that song is very appropriate for DDR. It's a great Dance/Trance-y song. And let's face it, if the artist name didn't say "Britney Spears", it wouldn't get half the crap it gets. _________________

They also could've gotten a better Chris Brown song than Say Goodbye in SN2. And Then We Kiss was a decent song. Pie is right on that one, it would get less crap if it were someone different. And now that Chris Brown has a few more new songs in the past year, some of them actually are DDR-able and good (Forever, for example, could fit nicely.) I think DDR needs more songs in general. 70 is getting a bit low for its price. I don't mean 110 songs like EX JP (although that would be nice), but 80-85 is enough. I think there's a large enough songpool to have that many songs without taking songs away from the next game.
Dota would be fun . Groove Coverage.... Didn't they do another version of Moonlight Shadow? If they're the same people, then that would be pretty cool. More Darude is nice. The Hamster Dance would be kinda annoying, but hey, I'd get used to it. Daddy Yankee is cool. Better Off Alone is a good song. I like Gwen Stefani and Bone Thugs n' Harmony, so they'd be interesting. _________________

According to wikipedia, there are about 25 new songs, and 7 returning songs so far. Butterfly (2008 x-edit), and Dub-I-Dub (2008 x-edit) are listed as 2 of the new songs, Poseidon, Puzzle, S.A.G.A., Stealth, Switch, TimeHallow, and Trust-DanceDanceRevolution Mix, are listed as returning songs. There got to be at least 40 more songs that are not yet announced. They did say about 70 songs, I hope its more than that, but if not, at least put good ones. Check out wikipedia to see the tentative list for the arcade and the ps2. I hope it gets updated with more songs so we can see what we might get. |

I'll try to make this one a bit quicker.
1.) Say Goodbye was just crap, IMHO. Bad cut, bad steps, bad music video cut, bad overall. Nuff said. PLEASE don't pull this again, Konami.
2.) I still don't like And Then We Kiss. It's not Britney Spears, I would still dislike it if it was, say, random-pop-artist-that-no-one's-ever-heard-of-before-this-N. Just not my kind of song. But then again, this is coming from someone who hopes for Never Wanted to Dance in DDRX
3.) I don't listen to Chris Brown, so I wouldn't know.
4.) OH GOD HERE COMES THE LONG ONE. Konami is obviously giving us crap compared to Japan. Look at both of our Extremes. Nuff said. They certainly wouldn't lose money if they released both songlists the same, except change the language and some licenses to fit the US. And yes, 85 would be nice I mean, Konami can just sap songs from 6th mix (*cough FOLLOWME flashinthenight BYEBYEBABYBALLOONcough*), 5th mix (*cough HOTLIMIT universegotit WHYNOTPS2 cough*), and even as far back as Club Mix (*cough GENTLESTRESSTHEORIGINAL skaagogo CHOTTOKIITENAcough*)! No one could tell the difference between an X debut song and a MAX exclusive unless they're like me and actually know these things.
5.) YES. YES. YES! YES! YESSSSS!
The only thing better than DotA would prolly be Declare Independence by Bjork. VERY DDRable.
6.)
7.) Rly? I'm one of them that's actually for the Hampster Dance Song. Also very DDRable, Konami wouldn't really have to work at it for any stepcharts, even Double.
8.) So I'm not the only one who feels this way about Wind It Up and the big G in general. Except don't put Yummy in X and pump the ESRB rating up to an ironic X. |

Yeah, I liked Say Goodbye, but it wasn't very well done. I'll give you that one. They cut Dance, Dance pretty well for having a video, but that song sucked minus the stepchart. I forgot about Follow Me, that song and Flash in the Night NEED NEED NEED to come (if Dancemania returns.) You kinda seem to have forgotten about EX2. That mix was all forms of excellent.
I don't think you'd like Forever, I'm probably the only one here (or one of few, anyway) who likes Chris Brown. _________________
