In the picture, the person is scrolling the songlist and is in between "Dynamite Rave" and "End of the Century". You can see how the banner sort of looks like a mesh between the two. _________________

Wow, thats actually a Pretty cool effect
Imagine if it was a Mesh up of songs to?
and I don't mean like he solo Nonstop Megamixes
I Mean like what this logo shows, only on music
"End of Dynamite Rave"
That would be cool, especially with the right songs
but...Thats just me |

There are some fan remixes that sound like that, but I doubt anything of the sort will make its way into DDR X.
It looks like the banner simply pans up from the bottom while scrolling - the player moved from End of the Century to Dynamite Rave (currently selected), and so the banner is halfway in transition. The top is still End of the Century, while the bottom now has the background and artist title of Dynamite Rave.
Shock arrows causing momentary stealth sounds tricky. I'm reminded of MGD's Mod Attack arrows.
And I'm glad they preserved the classic Groove Radar, rather than using that awful pie-chart thing from DDR Universe. |

Songlist on Zenius.
Apparently they not only think MAXX UNLIMITED (a 16) is harder than TLoM (a 15), but it's also just as hard as PSMO (another 16). Additionally, Xepher (a 15) is supposedly as hard as TLoM? And FELMH (17) is harder than FAXXH (16), PSMO, and Max-Me-Mix oni (16)? Not to mention that the oni chart for FAXX is a whole 2 ratings higher, when 85% of the chart is the EXACT SAME (besides it being ranked with FELMO, PHadesO, and PRelinquishedO, all 18s).
The scoring system was a great idea, but it could've been implemented a LOT better. I hope they revise it for the final release. It's not all bad, though; I like most of the reratings of the lower-difficulty songs, and I like how Kakumei's heavy/oni charts are now differentiated (the former being an 11 and the latter a 10). No word on Sakura's difficulties, though. My guess is the old 10 will be a 13-14 and the 9 will become a 12-13. |

I noticed that they upped the difficulty, IIDX style (cause it used to be just a ... I wanna say 1-8 with flashing 7s scale, now it's like up to 12-13 stars. I haven't played anything newer than 8th Style AC though.) so would that make the 10s in the game "less special" since there's a whole bunch more now with the new rating system?
I'm not sure what the upper end is, though... I've only seen as high as 17, so I don't know if it goes to 20 or not.
This game does sound exciting though, all the good songs from SN2, including the groove radar specials, and the SN2 unlocks we still don't have yet. (Although I did hear the 3rd code came out) _________________

I wonder if we'll get anymore Groove Radar special songs... |

It appears Konami still made some poor choices in assigning ratings again, but I gotta admit, I prefer this a whole lot more than having a bunch of 10 footers of varied difficulty.
At least Konami made several more better choices than poor ones. Most of the 18s (I think the sole exception is FAXXO) deserve to be 18s (currently the highest rating yet given to a song), CHAOS has been rightfully considered easier than the other former 10s, etc. _________________

That would be cool, but Konami's already covered the groove radar parts, and one 'all-encompassing' special so... unless they give us a 2nd wave of em I don't think they'll do any more. _________________

Don't trust those ratings just yet. I've seen several different ratings for a bunch of old 10s posted on 2ch, so we have no idea what their real ratings are.
But yes, Maxx Unlimited is harder than LoM.
Here's a nice little 'translator' someone posted on 2ch, it seems pretty accurate and make some of the ratings make sense.
8s on DDR X are lower 7s
9s are higher 7s
10s are lower 8s
11s are higher 8s
12s are lower 9s
13s are higher 9s
14s are easy 10s
15s are mid-10s
16s are hard 10s
17s are "insane" 10s
18s are "super insane" 10s
19-20 are impossible to calculate.
I'm actually excited about what these new stepcharts are going to look like, it looks like they've raised the bar. Kakumei is an 11, AA is a 12, Angelus is a 10, B4U is a 9...looks like Konami wants to progress the difficulty a bit.
Seriously, if the 5 10s so far are on par with stepcharts like A thing called LOVE, Angelus, and dazzle, I will be so happy. _________________

That scale makes sense though, because the only 9 I've ever passed was Drop Out (From NONSTOP MEGAMIX) and with the exception of that crazy run near the end of it, it seemed pretty easy for the most part. It doesn't say if it's a 12 or not, but given the way the scale apparently works I wouldn't be surprised. _________________

Well the ratings aren't all bad. At least this one recognizes NGO expert as the same level as Paranoia survivor expert. _________________

CSFIL-SM- is NOT a 14. It's a draining 9, but it isn't as hard as Arrabbiatta (sp?) or bag 1x, IMO. I'd say 12.
I suck at bag, though. _________________

But the problem is, it has been implied that since SN2 AC, DDR is banned from having AVEX BeForU (and by extension, AVEX Riyu Kosaka) songs, since instead of an AVEX BeForU song that we actually expected to show up in SN2AC, it was Angelus by Hitomi Shimitani (which was also featured in Inuyasha). |
"Banned" would not be the proper term to use here. I think you want to say "Not licensed" to use any BeForU material recorded on AVEX, but Konami still has the license rights for all previous material, and any unrelease material (for DDR) that is not on AVEX, and who said Konami would not come to terms with AVEX for future use of BeForU? It's about getting the proper licenses, while AVEX and BeForU getting their proper payment. |

Funny you say that, because I think you can. AA Heavy/Expert has far more complicated arrows that follow several different beat patterns while the more streamlined CSFIL:SM Heavy/Expert has jackhammers and requires stamina. I think each of these songs' unique approaches toward difficulty create a similar amount of challenge for the player. It just comes down to which area of gameplay the player is more skilled with. _________________

Because someone had to say it, apparently.
I'm surprised to hear about some of the returning licenses, though. _________________

Just found out about that location test and went there. Didn't see any signs not to record, so I took a few crappy vids where you can see the cabinet and such... -Just- until I noticed that there -was- a "no recording" sign in Japanese, and I saw someone who may have been a konami rep, so to be safe I put the phone away.
Not much to see especially since I could record only so little, the vids are truly horrible quality and they were mostly playing all old songs, but the cabinet is pretty cool to look at IMHO. If anyone actually is interested, I'll see about converting the vids and uploading them somewhere. (I'm hoping someone already has something nicer to look at uploaded already, perhaps...?) Anyway, let me know.
