Last time I played, someone, of course, jumped on the pad and smashed buttons on the other side. I ignored him, but still, it was annoying. You don't have people come up to you when you play Time Crisis and pretend to shoot you in the head with the other gun, so why this? |
That's because Time Crisis is considered to be "masculine" (yeah, because shooting a light gun at a screen is so masculine), and apparently DDR is gay because it has the word dance in the title, and apparently only gay guys dance, even though DDR has nothing to do with actual dancing. People acting like idiots when I play DDR is one of the reasons I always travel to places that have DDR with a friend that plays DDR. |

Last time i was out DDRing 2 b*tches came up behind me mid-song and one kept saying "Hi my name is Jim", so I said "could you please stop?". But they kept doing it so I was like "Would you stop, you're ****ing annoying" and they left.
People piss me off anymore. Humanity is just trying to turn me into a douche-bag. _________________

People who rave about people who are mediocre at DDR piss me off. A very good example is Ryota. Everyone says he's amazing, when he's really just average. A good younger player (and by young I mean below age 9) is a 7 year old I've met named Liam. But nobody says he's amazing, other than people who already know him.
For comparison, here's Liam doing Tricky Disco on Expert:

And here's so called "amazing" Ryota doing the hardest song on the face of the earth, Afronova on Standard:

Heya guys, what annoys me about DDR is when there are condescending local players at any given arcade and they think its there god given right and duty to diss newer players and people that lack the same amount of skill as them.
Most of the previously stated annoys me as well but it's just pretty foolish to diss the future of our community in my opinion

Time Crisis isn't masculine. Now that Dear Hunting game, THAT there is a MAN'S GAME!
Nothing like shooting an unsuspecting animal through a vital organ with a long range weapon to prove how much of a man you are.

Most veteran players I know are actually very curteous to beginners. I offer loads of encouragment and advice to any newbies in my area. _________________

So, everyone hate's the tiny spawn-children who run around our feet while we dance. But my peeve goes out to the higher-ups...their parents!
I can't count how many times I've nearly crushed a child because he's being retarded (he's a young kid, so I half expect it), but I look around, wondering why no parent stopped their precious little baby from being voluntarily trampled...and nothing. There's not a parent in sight.
THIS is what pisses me off, no god-damed parents watching their spawn. _________________

A lot of things piss me off. But dumb skater kids who think because they skateboard they are better than everyone else and think that DDR is gay because the word dance is in the title of the game especially make me mad. Here's something that happened to me that I also posted in the Arcade Experiences thread:
Quote: | A couple weeks ago, I was just playing DDR at my local arcade when these fucking dumb fat skater kids started harassing me for no reason. Keep in mind that the machine was close to a huge window looking out into the food court. Anyway, the dumb fat skater kids kept banging on the window, kept yelling "FAGGOT" as loud as they could, and at one point on of the dumb fat skater kids pulled his pants down to moon me, which was not a pretty sight seeing as the guy was a dumb fat skater kid. When I got done, I yelled to them "What are you, fucking 5 years old?" Of course, they yelled "FUCK YOU FAGGOT" and ran off. I told the arcade manager what happened and they called security who hopefully found their dopey asses and kicked them out. |
It's just part of the reason why I prefer playing DDR at home. |

When people tell me: How can do you do that ZOMFG, or wow you must know it by heart, yeah, like I know nearly a thousand step patherns by heart you dumb ****
People who say they don't like the songs on the machine so they play easy 5+ minute songs 4 times in a row, while sucking really hard at them and making everybody else wait. If you want to only play customs, get a home pad you retard.
Also, I don't want to sound like I am an attention whore, but anyways, when I go play at my local arcade with friends, there are usually average players playing there. They play like 9s and crowds gather around them, when they finish, we go on and people leave, while saying thet we must suck because the people they have just seen must be the best around. WTF, and sometimes people stay, but most of them look at us like we come from some kind of paralel universe. Conclusion, when you suck, people dont watch you, when ur average, you gather crowds, and when your good, people think your retarded _________________

I have to admit, this one really does bother me.

That's unfortunate...I suppose it depends on where you play. At the arcade where I play, the brand new players tend to get the biggest crowds (because people are interested and feel like they could do it too), mediocre players get next to no crowds, and good players get crowds for single songs (because people are impressed, but too intimidated to stick around and try themselves).
I had my first experience with a very young child running up on the pad while I was playing doubles. I was aware that he was around and not really being watched so I was conscious enough not to trample him. And the thing is, I couldn't blame the kid himself, but his parents were right there! They didn't apologize, much less offer to pay for the 2 credits they had wasted me; worse yet it was pretty close to the beginning of my first song. *Sigh*...some people. _________________

when people think its cool to scare me really badly when Im getting really into a song, I get spooked easily and this happened to me twice in the same day by the same people
incident one:
playing infection on hard, ITG, in the arcade really close to some windows and three wiggers decide its funny to bang on the windows really loudly and bolt away, I got a B instead of my usual S.
incident two:
playing remember december on hard, and the same kids sneak up and start jumping on the mat next to me and stomping, scared me so badly that I failed, and became enraged, and shouted OH YOU frick, COME TRY IT AGAIN I DARE YOU, excuse the language. they didnt come back, I think they were surprised it was coming from a 16 year old girl in pink, heh _________________

This is the same kind of stuff that happens to me all the time, but replace the wiggers with skater kids. |

I feel confronting people nonchalantly is the best way to get them to piss off. Usually doing hard songs is a good way to convince somebody that you're in good physical shape and they probably don't want to try something on you. Yet sometimes it's not enough. I occasionally get punk kids jumping up, and I'll ignore them. It's actually good practice for concentration. But after the song I'll usually just turn around and look at them and be a bit sarcastic. They usually don't have the balls to do anything to your face, and will back down.
If you really want to be a jerk, you could say something like, "You should try this sometime, maybe you'd be in better shape."
Re: crowds... at a local bowling alley, I will be doing HOTN no bar and nobody passes a glance... back at school, I go nuts on Supernova and have a few people watching here and there. I played at Anime Expo right now and did a 7 footer on doubles and got applause from 30 people. And in NYC, don't get me started about the crowds there. Moral = crowds are weird. |

Before I Say Mine
What does it Mean when someone Shadows you?
Now....My List:
1. When Someone is stepping on the Pad too hard
2. When they say they can do a song, you choose it, you both fail, and he blames you for choosing it, and makes you pay for the mext game (Its happened)
3. Its not Annoying or Angering, but Its A WTF Moment: When someone comes up to you and says "I'll Pay you 2 Dollars if you can Do (Insert Name of Song), and 3 Dollars if you pass It"....Um....Thanks?
4. OK, This has happened to me once, but It sucked. I Was Playing Legend of Max on Extra Stage, and Failed Before the SLowdown (I Can never get those Jumps and Streams =P). Anyways, someone says that I sucked, that I wasn't as good as the guys on youtube (WTF?). Then, He got on, I Sat back, He chose "We will rock you" on Beginner. He passed it with an A. Then he started to rub it in my Face, Until I Played it on Heavy, 3X, Reverse, and Dark. Then he started saying some BS on how I Could beat the "Easy songs". I Chose Max 300 on Heavy (1.5X, Reverse) and Passed with an AA (Note: 3 Rounds, His Money). So....LOM Again as Extra Stage, and he decided to Try it. He Failed Right after the First Jump/Freeze
and
Finally
5. When an Arcade worker sees that you're tired after a Couple rounds of Hard songs, and They're like "Oh, what happened Mr. Hot Shot?" |

Man, that sucks. If somebody pulled that kind of stuff, I would just ignore them. LoM extra is a pain in the buttocks. I think I've only done it once, but like you that same section always catches me, so if I can't do it it's usually that section.
As above, my response is usually "why don't you try this?" Being in shape seems to command a lot of respect, so I think that's probably your best defense, since people who make those types of comments are probably pretty insecure about themselves anyway.
You're in LA, man? I'm leaving for Japan soon but I might organize something in LA, so I'll let you know.
And shadowing means when somebody plays on the pad next to you when you're playing by yourself, trying to step the steps with you. |
