Which pad is better, the blueshark 2 inch 2007 edition or the blueshark 3 inch no bar? Does the extra screws on the blueshark 2 inch fix the problems with the brackets? _________________

He sent me two "8.0 ignition pads", one was terribly torn in the creases where it was being folded (maybe because it was stored folded too long?), and the other had a very small hole in one of the folds and looked to me like it would look like the first pad after a few weeks of use.
I shipped both back to him (paid an extra $14 to do this). When he received them he acknowledged that one of them was badly torn, but claimed he could find nothing wrong with the other one. I kept asking him when he would send the new pads, but finally responded telling me that he need another 3 days to "test" the less damaged pad. I then demanded that he ship me new pads or I would file a claim with paypal. He told me to go right ahead, so I did.
Right now I don't have the pads and I don't have the money. Hopefully the paypal claim will work and at least I will get the money back (except for the $14 I spent to ship them back).
So be warned: if ANYTHING goes wrong with an ebay transaction you are likely to be screwed. Worst case, you lose all your money, best case you lose the return shipping. |
The best thing to do in the case you buy pads from ebay is to do major research on the buyers, and focus on transactions reguarding any kind of dancepads (whether they are soft, metal, or foam), before buying. There are sellers on ebay that would sell you a crappy pad, and not assume any responsibility, while there are others who are very responsive (in order to please customers) and resolve any problems without or very little hassle.
I recently got a TX 1000 (and I mean the real thing, not a cheap imitation) for under $130 including shipping from a highly reputable seller (anything over 98.5% positive feedback), and the only thing I had to do was to adjust the screws in order to make it respond the way I want. I was getting way too many greats, and now I am getting AA's on songs I would not even get higher than an A with the Konami pad that came with my SuperNOVA bundle last year (I own all PS2 releases for the US, and now wanting to get the two PSOne releases for collection purposes). It's a hit or miss, but making sure you check recent transactions for dancepads will help a lot. Many negative feedback comments on pads and any special controllers can say a lot about the quality of products. |

Any bad experiences reguarding the TX 1000 metal pads? I would like to know, and what to do for maintenance.

Not sure if I should post this here, as it deals with both pad problems and what pad to get, but here goes...
At about the end of February, I ordered from BuynShop a BNS DX Xtreme Fusion pad for about $60, and what I got was a DDR Game Energy pad. I was a little confused, but I didn't say anything because the pad worked like a charm right when I got it.
Fast forward to a month and a half later (now), and the down arrow doesn't always respond to my steps and it fires off by itself (like scrolling down a menu by itself). Should I open up the pad or something to try and fix it? There was only a 30 day warranty from BuyNShop, and it's past that. Also, does Buynshop not sell their own pads now, selling only DDR Game Energy pads under its own pad name?
If I do decide to get another foam pad, I'm thinking Redoctane Ignition 3.0 (unless anyone wants to suggest something else), but at the moment, I'm actually thinking of maybe getting a metal pad. I don't think Nexen is worth it since you can pay 50 more dollars and get a Blueshark, but I'm thinking about either Blueshark or Cobalt Flux, and right now I'm leaning towards Cobalt Flux because I may want to try playing Pump It Up someday, and it seems to have less problems physically. And then I don't know what to say about customer service, because I've heard bad things about both. Sorry if this boils down to another Cobalt Flux vs. Blueshark debate, but first off, would any of you have any suggestions of what to do on the DDR Game Energy pad I have right now? _________________

I've also ordered from BNS and got the DDRGame pad instead. Someone else ordered from them again a little over a week ago and also got that pad, so they still aren't selling their pads yet.
Try playing a few songs with the foam taken out. That's what I did when I started having problems with it. I guess all I really had to do was reposition the foam. _________________

Just tried that, but unfortunately it seems that's not the problem. My dad doesn't seem willing to buy me any sort of pad for a while after I just got this one a month and a half ago, so it seems I'll have to try and fix this.
I think I'll have to actually try and cut open the pad to see what's wrong. I'm not handy with this sort of thing at all, so what should I be looking for to see what's wrong? It's the down arrow that's being unresponsive and misfiring.
I may have to contact BuyNShop, but what do you think of the chances of them actually being helpful? _________________

hey guys, i'm looking to buy a metal pad myself. the problem is, almost every pad suggested here ships from the u.s, or just doesn't fit my requirement.
i'm from toronto, ontario, so i want to try to get a pad from canada so it'll cost less (no customs)
I recently found this site, but i don't know anything about pads so i need some advice.
http://www.gameenhancer.net/metal_dance_pad_arcade_solo.html
after tax, and shipping, this pad comes up to about 450.
has anybody heard about this site? is it reliable?
if not, here are some requirements, can someone give me some suggestions?
-metal pad must have bar ( i need it man )
-budget $500 CAD
i'm pretty open to suggestions. i've seen the afterburner and cobault flux, but no bar. i know i can use a chair, but it's just not the same. the only other thing is the blueshark, but it'si way out of my budget after shipping and customs. thanks guys! |

|

Hi
I am new to DDR, but after my first time trying it I fell in love. This is SO much fun! I bought the Supernova2 pack with the mat and have been playing for just about a week now.
I've looked at the "mods" and the wood mod, while it seems a really great idea, I don't think will work for me.
I have very limited space (for storing), a cat (ohhhh plastic, let me sharpen my nails!) and I have a) a balance disorder - DDR is partly being used to help that; b) arthritis in my ankles, knees, hips, lower back. Yeah, I'm old and falling apart; and c) my roommate's living room is underneath mine and she'd just LOVE me banging around on a wooden base - NOT (and she owns the house, so ... )
From lurking I note that PureBlue (Sun Jan 27, 2008) posted that the softpads that come with ITG are better than the Konami. Just ordered the set from Amazon - game, 2 pads for $20?! And it looks like another fun game. The Konami pad is already showing signs of just not being responsive or sensitive enough. I weigh about 115 lbs if that means anything.
I had a thought on "soft modding" for those of us with space and/or physical problems. I found this on Amazon: Spartan 12 x 12 x 1/2 Interlocking Mat:
Quote: | Product Description
Spartan's® 12-in x 12-in EVA foam easy interlocking mats come in a 12-pack with 14 edge pieces. The textured mats have a no-slip surface and are easy to clean. The 1/2 inch thick mats cover a 3-ft x 4-ft surface area. Ideal for gyms, playrooms, work shops and kids play area! |
Has anyone tried something like this? if so has it worked? I also play in ballet slippers because my bare feet stick to the mat too much (no I don't have sweaty feet) and it's slowing me down even more than I am normally. Ballet slippers are soft, so they shouldn't be a problem with the mats, should they? *hopes not*
The other option is to buy a 1" thick softpad (would do C. Holden's mod - I actually have a piece of that plastic!): one of the BNS DX Xtreme Fusion or Sparkle Dance Pad (but people seem to be getting DDRGame pads and I've read tons of bad reviews about DDRGame pads); vivazone Dual Challenger Super Deluxe DDR Dance Pad; the RO Ignition 3.0 (expensive!) and finally 1" thick pad-wise, at DDRStation this: Dance Dance Revolution DDR (Super Sensitive-No More Delay) ... is it really "super sensitive"?
I know, information overload. I'm sorry, I talk alot and you all really know your stuff! Thanks for your help? |

Although the Ignition 3.0's are expensive, I've had better luck with them than any other foam pad. I recommend them. The BNS DX Fusion/Sparkle is pretty good too.
And yes, the soft pads that come with ITG are better than the Konami pads. I own both, and the ITG pads are more sensitive, slide around less, and are just better designed all around.
AND OMFG I GET MENTIONED IN SOMEONE'S POST?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!? |

Good luck with the menier's (saw you mention what it was in another post).
I had a lot of luck attaching foam vibration cancellers to the bottom of a hard pad; see http://shop3.mailordercentral.com/supersoundproofing/products.asp?dept=25
Just FYI.

So what's the best (or couple of best) metal pads these days? I'm sick of tweaking my home-made ones.

Forgot to mention: I don't use the bar at all, and wouldn't attach one if a pad came with it, so I'd prefer ones that can be bought without.
USB would be nice, but not essential (I have a PS2/USB thingy).

Robin, thank you for your kind words re: meniere's
That vibration cancelling stuff looks amazing! May I ask which one you got and how well it's working for you? I'm guessing the 3.5" dimple pads - one in each corner of the dance pad? I was also looking at the super soundproofing MLV mat - just stick it under my low pile area rug.
I'm still searching for just the right pad and in the meantime have pretty much disassembled/reassembled/crazily modified one of the ITG Octane pads ... a girl's gotta know how to try to fix something, right?
Still using the "puzzle" gym floor wrapped in the heavier duty rug gripper stuff with the pad on that until I find a better solution.
I know I'm not really ready for a hard pad and I will probably just go to mymybox and get the blueshark "soft" hardpad for $70.
In the meantime, I've been seeing TX-1000 on the bay myself. If those work and especially with that vibration cancelling material, I may just grab one of those next month and hope I get a good one. I'm getting way too many greats, even on beginner. Not to mention the almosts and boos because either the current konami/ITG RO isn't sensing the step or I've gone too far and have NO idea where I am on the pad.
Edit: I did the unthinkable! *gasp* I bought a "faux" ignition with the dense foam and raised sensors from ebay and it arrived today. Don't know how long it's gonna last, but I had myself a blast for over 2 hours on it. What I don't like is that the foam's in 6 pieces ... thinking of taping some of them together as a just in case. But I lucked out - $10 for the pad, $19 (ripoff of course) shipping. still not bad overall.
Only mod? have the piece of wood under the pad AND I did the other no-no - I wore sneakers on the pad. Felt amazing! Really makes me want a metal one now. _________________

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums, and I need help deciding on which metal pad is right for me. I have seen the cobalt flux, and from what I've gathered will give me the most bang for my buck, but I think that if I ever want to be "good" I'm going to need a bar. Now, I currently don't use a bar, but I think it would be good to have one. So, if there's some attachment or something that can be added to the cobalt mat then great, otherwise I'm open to suggestions. |

Hi Spazmonkey ... try doing a search on the forum. There are some inventive people here who've jury-rigged what looks to be some nice homebrew bar setups. IMHO, they look alot sturdier than just about anything you can get retail!
On the subject of ebay ... feedback is becoming less and less important. For instance, a seller can no longer leave negative feedback for a buyer - they can say in the feedback that the buyer's deadbeat, but they can't just choose negative. With sellers? I tried leaving neutral - not even negative - feedback on 2 sellers and the system wouldn't let me. Kinda stinks for both sides, you know?
There is a seller who has what they're calling MaxV2.0 Foam Dance Extreme Pads (selling in a set of 2), allegedly with 3 part 21mm dense foam inserts - it's not 3 pieces, it's not dense; it's crappy thin, won't even lay flat or stay together (unless you tried to tape it up?) 6 piece foam. Just a word to anyone who's thinking of grabbing a couple of inexpensive pads to hold you over. Take a pass on these. _________________
