better idea for konami would have been to make a new US keyboard mania. why? because i think a lot of people want keyboards in music games and konami could actually show something that looks original so they arent "the guitar hero/rock band ripoff company."

the music game lineup this fall looks awful. Guitar Hero World Tour looks like rock band 1.5, and i'd consider it if i didnt already have rock band. But unfortanately, me as well as millions of other people already bought rock band and im sure we aren't gonna be too happy about spending $100+ for another game+drumset. Not to mention PS3 rock band owners, who are going to have to add guitars to that equation.

if all these things were universal, i'd be fine and take a look at what world tour is gonna offer and consider it. But since i cant use my rock band drum set, its pointless. i dont need another rock band because i already have the original one.

as far as adding timing windows, i guess in guitar hero it wouldn't be bad. I mean, hey, it'd give it something to differentiate itself from rock band. But if they did, i'd want it to be more like pop'n music than IIDX, in other words, fairly loose.

edit: Did anyone get a load of that little drum preview video with famous drummers in it? It reaks of "hey look guys, we paid these people to talk about how awesome our new game is gonna be!" the part about it being wireless was the worst, he's like "Yeah, it comes out of the box ready to go and you don't even have to plug it in, it's wireless!" as if they wanted to kick harmonix/EA in the balls for having a wired drumset, when really i prefer that the drumset is wired since it remains stationary and having it wired allows me to use it in garageband, lol.

if you want to laugh, check out the video.

Since when can you not mix and match the guitars/drums? I use my GH3 guitar for Rock Band all the time and vice versa (depending on which i can find at the moment lol) and i dont see why they wont work for GH4 because they all hook up to the same system.

Also, I personally will not get GH4 at all unless it has an amazing song selection (and im talking so good that it makes me want to throw out Rock Band) because the whole point of Guitar Hero was that it focused on playing the guitar. Yes, I understand Rock Band kicked its @$$ up and down the gaming court, but Activision's amazing comeback is to become Rock Band? Where's the originality in that?

So yeah, no GH4 for me. Although my friend will probably get it so ill just watch/play it over there, but there's no way im spending my money to buy a complete rip-off of Rock Band (or any of their sequels, for that matter!) untill they come up with something ORIGINAL to compete with.

well, judging off the fact GHWT's drum set has 2 symbols and is pressure sensitive(which is cool and all, but is it really going to effect the game much at all?), it's safe to say we're going to need a new drum set.

also, on PS3, the guitars on rock band and guitar hero are not universal. It's a real pain to have to use those godawful rock band guitars in rock band. On my 360, i sold mine and picked up an xplorer and a wireless les paul, lol.

also, i highly doubt GHWT's songlist is gonna be that great. i considered guitar hero 3s songlist a huge step down from 2/1. It just lacked fun songs to play, and there was more songs that made me say "why is this on here" than ever before. rock band will still be the best bet since harmonix will have nearly a years worth of DLC when GHWT comes out so you can just cut the crap and get all the songs you want. Maybe instead of GHWT, i'll get $50 worth of microsoft points when the game is released, lol.

I now hear that Konami is going to come out with something called "rock Revolution". I guess they want a piece of the action, but according to the reviews I read so far, it doesn't look very good. I won't be the judge until I get more info and maybe even try it when it does come out. What I really want is DDR X and Hottest party 2, those are scheduled to be released this fall along with Universe 3 for Xbox 360. That announcement came on May 15th, they are releasing them all in time for DDR's 10th anniversary. E1.gif
