|
|
A thread has appeared on Konami's DDR Community website discussing Konami's current interest in holding a DDR tournament on a national scale. While nothing is concrete yet, at least one Konami employee has informed us that Konami is "in the process" of putting one together.
Anyone that is interested in attending such a tournament, either as a spectator or an entrant, is strongly urged to voice their opinion in the thread. Konami keeps a very close eye over their DDR Community website, and a national tournament is very likely to happen if enough DDR fans demand one. |

OMFG.
I am so there. I've had such a hard time trying to get to any tournaments I might hear of. This could finally be the chance!
It'd be nice if they could get it going before the end of summer break this year. |

Again, I urge anyone that is interested in seeing the realization of this event to post as such on DDR Community. While Konami is putting serious interest into a potential national tournament, nothing is guaranteed as of yet, and I am positive that a large amount of support for a national tournament on their forum would seal the deal. Thankfully, there has already been a strong outpouring of support in the thread thus far, so let's keep it up. |

I also would love to see something like this occur, and would be willing to do whatever I could to help. _________________

Guys, I'd STRONGLY urge you to sign up on Konami's official forums if you haven't already done so, go to the topic JJK linked, and post your feedback on a possible national tournament, whether it be a simple "I'd love to see a national tournament!," or if you have feedback on what the rules or tournament structure should be.
I can tell you personally that planning for a national tournament is definitely underway as of now. _________________

Man... 8 years later, I never thought I'd see Konami actually THINKING about it.

Lol, c'mon, there's gotta be more than 40 of you down there. There's at least 20 in Daytona Beach I played against before I moved.
Everyone in Virginia must be hiding, 'cause I've only seen 1 or 2 of mentionable skill. |

RTF would gladly make its presence felt.
That's some sort of rule. Because we rule.

Hey, WHERE are the good spots to play in Florida anyway!? I visited there a couple of times around Palm Harbor, and could only find a couple of "decent" spots. :S

^I only had the chance to play in the two Daytona Beach locations I know of when I lived there, Speed Park (SN, Extreme, ITG2) and Daytona Lagoon (SN, 4th Mix, ITG2). I loved both places, but I prefer the place where I was introduced to the game, Speed Park. And it's cheaper.
And apparently the SN at Speed Park is now a SN2, so I have to go back to Florida and try it out. |

I would go to this, if schedule allowed it.
My issue is more of Konami trying to revive DDR in this sense, which is fine with me-- but if they fail to put more emphasis on FREESTYLE, I.E, actually HAVING a bracket for it; then they will never appeal to anyone outside of those who still play and actually bother to play it in arcades. Anyone can see someone stomp arrows. What brought people into interest initially was seeing people ACTUALLY dance on it. Do tricks. Use their hands, knees, forehead (ouch), whatever! While PA will obviously be the focus, they MUST at least rekindle what made it popular initially!
...and, if this happened, I might even DO some Freestyle. _________________

I am fairly new to DDR, but I have improved like hell probably because I am a Guitar Hero 1-2 "master".
I'd be up for it after training this summer; assuming costs aren't through the roof. A tournament would be something great to motivate myself! _________________
