Converting actual DDR arcade cab to Stepmania?

I have all the parts needed for a MAME cab build, so I'd imagine we could simply use them in a DDR cab. Ultimarc iPac4, HAPP Universal Video Convertor, a PC, and a bunch of wire and connectors is all I think we would need...

Has anyone done a DDR>Stepmania conversion? If you have, does everything work like a normal machine would, or are the lights pretty much useless after the conversion? Does Stepmania support USB thumbdrives for song loading? Most importantly, would you make a drive out to an arcade who had Stepmania instead of ITG or DDR?
