Wild guess, but I think he/she is asking if they're on cd-rom or dvd-rom.

How do they compare to the non-mix styles?

Elaborate.

You could consider SuperNOVA to be 9th mix, but that is innacurate unless Konami names their next installment:

Dance Dance Revolution [Name]
Dance Dance Revolution 11th mix.

Actually, no. That would be partially redundant, as the only reason why Max and Max 2 had "Dance Dance Revolution X mix" is because the title was called DDRMAX. So 8th mix never existed.

So what we have is...

Dance Dance Revolution
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th (MAX), and 7th mix (MAX 2).

Not including Plus, ReMix, and Extreme - SuperNOVA 2.

Everything he listed are arcade installments.

Note: I never heard anyone call Extreme "8th mix".

The colloquial numerical system [since max and max 2 weren't "officially" called 6th and 7th mix] died with Max 2, but not many people called it "7th mix" anyway.

I think why we lost the number system was that there were so many changes made from 5th mix to Max:

A "10 footer"
Extra Stage/OMES
Oni courses
Speed modifiers (and an options screen) > if you wanted to change options before that, you used your feet.
Groove Radar
Freeze arrows

And so on...

Most importantly, Riyu on video.

Actually, according to the subtitles of the Marquees, 6th mix and 7th mix exist.

Wait... when I am googling images for Max and Max 2, I get pictures that say what mix they are AND pictures that don't say a thing.

... um....

Edit: Whup, nevermind. Acordding to these images, Max and Max 2 were referred to as 6th and 7th mix respectively.

That's really weird - I never saw marquis with "7th" pr "6th" on them.

They usually looked like this image:

Your sense is not making.

Start talking with a little bit more of specifics.
