I'll do stuff like try to 5x reverse shuffle stuff no bar just for fun - I honestly don't do it to show off.
I do it cause I don't want to worry about things like pad sensitivity, and if it isn't a AAA, it's not something to groan about. |

I would bother making a response related to the topic if the topic title wasn't retarded and the op wasn't retarded, but instead I postwhore.

That's when some Mexican came up and showed me up.
He wasn't ARROGANT. |
But how do you know he was a Mexican? I've never seen anyone play DDR in a sombrero and a poncho, so I'm wondering what the tip-off was. |
Maybe I remember him wearing a shirt that said "Proud to be Mexican."
I could think of others. _________________

I just support them, unless they are doing the same song 3 times in a row (which I saw last night and then I am just confused.
But like Ninja said earlier in the thread, I love people almost failing but bringing it back from the brink, especially when the song is difficult. E.G. I would to have seen me the other night when I cleared Dead End on Difficult for the first time (yes I know, easy for you guys, but hard for me!). I started off really well then lost it a bit in the middle and had to claw it back from the brink. Must have been cool to watch....
... cause then I collapsed after |

This is why I play at home, with people who "suuuuuck" at about the same level as me. |

Go suck your dad off. You're not as good at DDR as you think you are. Not that it matters anyway...it's a video game. |

That made me laugh because that actually happened to me this past summer (months after the last post in this thread ). I think I was playing mostly difficult/standard songs at the time, but I set Paranoia Respect on basic because I did not think I would be able to pass it otherwise. If memory serves me well, I think I almost failed the song, but ended up getting a D or B on it, maybe a C, I am not sure. I did not use the bar at all. Yes, I am one of those "noobs" compared to you guys -- I do not think I can pass most nine-footers without the bar. The funny thing is that as many people lightyears beyond me as there are, I have seen only a few people outperform me in person since I started playing in arcades (92 days ago). Whenever I see someone trying a machine, I always like to go over to watch and offer advice whenever I can. I typically tell people how it is easier to turn one's body instead of stepping back to hit the down arrow, that it is better to stay off the center, and the arrows flash along with the beat of the song. I have stolen (not intentionally) several games because some people will just quit before they play all the songs they are allowed. The first time I ever tried Dance Dance Revolution (probably the first rhythm game I ever tried excluding Dance Monkey Dance from Ape Escape 2) was at a church on either the Playstation 2 or xbox (I think we switched from EXTREME 2 to one of the Ultramixes at one point or something). I was one of the worst ones -- the pastor had it set on light and I failed virtually every song I tried (I made a D on After the Game of Love). Despite this, I could not get enough of the game -- I was the one person still playing after everyone else moved on to another activity. _________________

This. I'd prefer to see people struggling to get better on easier difficulties rather than so called "good players" whoring the above songs and going around harassing beginner players. |

I like to stick up for the noobs.
When I see people like in Standard mode putting these people down, I then step in and show them up. I do it casually so it doesn't look like I'm putting anyone down.
It's pretty low when people make fun of noobs (unless they pretend to be badass.
I remember when I went a breakdance demo and they asked people to just go in and do whatever.
a kid with down syndrome when on there and had no idea what he was doing, but who cared? He was having a good time and enjoyed it.
We cheered him on.
I think of it like that. _________________

Ok, my turn! First of all, I loathe the word "noob" when talking about someone new to a game or in this case, new to the arcade machine. We're newbies. A noob is someone who acts like kacheek41. Arrogant, poor grammer, spelling and basically either doesn't have a clue or doesn't care what or whom he's talking about.
I've read through this whole thread (and yes, it is old). I've read heartening comments and I've read the type that are what would stop me cold from even trying to play on an arcade machine.
There's going to be an ITG cab coming to a location about 5 blocks from my house in I think the next week or so. I have never played on an arcade machine, so in that regard I am a newbie. At home I'm a 4 to 6 footer, depending on the song, my energy level, etc.
The idea of trying out the cab is wonderful, the thought that there will be people watching, in general, is terrifying (no one has seen me play even here at home). That there will be people doing the "hurry up noob, you suck, get off the machine so I can play cause I'm better than you'll ever be", well that makes me want to stay home and just play on my dense foam pad and not have to deal with more negativity than I already do.
There are some songs that I physically just can't do, seriously. Age (53), slowed reflexes in general, arthritis, a disability that causes just trying to read 300bpm arrows to send me into close to a drop attack, well that does leave a decent number of songs out. Does that mean I don't try my best with what I can do? Heck no! But again, the idea of someone standing behind me, breathing down my neck and thinking the "noob-be-gone" stuff ... it's discouraging to even try.
It's a game. It should be fun, people should be encouraging to each other regardless of level, etc. That it seems like it's not, that some people don't have the patience or tolerance to put up with those of us who aren't 9 to 10 footers and can't pass MAX or whatever ... to you, think back. You didn't start out passing those songs, did you? _________________

I don't have a problem with waiting my turn while the noobs play. we all start somewhere, and I hope they get good and join the community.
...although sometimes when I'm impatient to play and their considering bag, I think "pick it....PICK IT.... " _________________
