I am building a homepad (Riptide's Design) and I have run across a predicament. I want to use the pad for stepmania, but I cant seem to find a USB controller that I can easily wire. One solution is to use a PS1 controller and an adapter, the problem is where can I find the controller (the gamestop controller preferably)? Also, will the gamestop controller and a adapter give me the joystick axes problem?
the adapter I am thinking about...

XBox controllers are USB devices and will work on your computer with the proper drivers. I am currently finishing up a pair of home built stages for use with StepMania that will be using 2 of these for the controllers and I have bnot had much trouble wiring them up, but it depends upon what you mean by "easy". I had to scrape traces and wire in resistors, but none of this was hard, merey tedious. Still, I only really used the XBox controllers because I had some broken ones laying around.
If you only want to use it on a computer I suggest you check out the GP-Wiz controller board on groovygamegear.com. |
