Is there any reason NOT to purchase BlueShark from EBAY?

I'm quite new to DDR, and am looking for a decent dance-pad to use. From reading these forums, it seems the BlueShark is the one to get. Current a seller (IOGEAR) on EBAY has 2 BlueSharks for under $100 although by his/her feedback, he/she seems to have issues sending the item on time, or at all!

Normally in such a situation I'd just purchase directly from the manufacturer, however the various reports of poor customer service from MyMyBox coupled with inconsistent quality of the dancepad has me trying to decide between the proverbial lesser of two evils.

Quite frankly it seems it's not just MyMyBox, but ALL "premium" dancepad manufacturers have issues related to poor quality and customer service. Is it really this hard to buy a decent DDR dancepad?

I'm in the same boat and having the same problems. I went through two foam DDR pads that both broke within a month of use. I want to get a BlueShark too but mymybox is currently out of stock until 2/20/08. That's nearly two months away and I have no pad to use for the time being until my RMA comes through.

From reading the forums it seems that mymybox's customer service has improved in recent months. The problem with ebay is that returns are basically impossible. I wish to hell that stores like BestBuy, ToysRUs or Gamestop would sell DDR pads but from what I've seen they don't.

It seems like the truly hardcore people mod their pads or build their own, but that takes a level of dedication that I certainly don't have. Not to mention the copious free time which a job + grad school precludes me from having.

My plan is to try and find some ~$60 foam pad to last me until I can order a BlueShark.

Based on the fact that I wouldn't sell a pair of bluesharks for under $300, I'd say don't go for this one. Also, check the shipping. Chances are, it's >$100 for the item itself and a shitton for the shipping. That's a technique used by a lot of ebay sellers to get out of paying refunds for faulty products.

I'd recommend to both of you to wait for some warrantied MyMyBox BlueSharks and use cheap, modded soft pads (basic modding takes a couple of hours and is completely worth it) until they get back in stock.

Never buy a dancepad on eBay. Poor seller feedback and an unusually low price, I would definitely NOT buy from that guy, if you really had to get one from ebay.

No one plops down $600 or so for two bluesharks so they can sell them for $100. Don't buy it. In fact, don't ever buy eBay pads, not even if they're good ones. Because you don't get the warranty from the manufacturer (all the good pad manufacturers have warranties) and there is no guarantee the seller will treat it as good shipping-wise as the manufacturer would.

Unfortunately, yes. I guess the demand for them just isn't that high.
