Parents tend to tell me that I should compete in tournaments because I would win each of them. They would continue to watch me play either oni courses or a bunch of fun (not hard) songs while making sure the kids keep a 5ft radius away from the machine.
With the parent issue out of the way, you would think there isn't anything wrong. The kids there are a little rude but the regulars tell 'em off while the player keeps concentration, so everyone has everyone's back. Idiot shadowers and mockers either don't appear or stop on request, and overall there is a lack of idiocy.
Except for the fact there was this one time where a bunch of newish people were wanting to play, but being the AAer I was, I got to the extra stage (by accident) and passed that. The regulars were liking the view and there were some tourists, but these teens looked like they had no clue how the game was played. After I failed Chaos, this girl came up to me and said...
"I know you're on a roll and all, but there are other people here who want to play you know."
I would've replied with "Girl, learn how the game is played before you start talking to me like that. Heck, don't talk to me at all." and inserted another dollar into the machine, but I had no more quarters. _________________

So I was playing HDV today, and some bitch came in front of me and started waving her hand in front of my face.
I told her to fuck off and she did. |

Well just because I was playing doubles/freestyle doesn't mean I have to dance right? |

An audience every now and then is a little bit of an ego boost, especially since they can't tell the difference between 321 Stars and TLOM, and doing turns on Frozen Ray is more impressive to them than AAAing PSM, but sometimes the people who watch are just RIDICULOUS. There was this old lady once who came in and just started SCREAMING in a high-pitched voice because Rob was playing Legend. So then she calls all of her friends over, screams a little, and Rob heel-toes 5.1.1. just so she'll go away. She was like "HE WAS GOING REALLY FAST BEFORE."
Little kids. I'm kind of not a big fan of little kids, so maybe I'm biased, but it's really annoying when a kid gets up on the pad next to you while you're playing a serious set and starts jumping around. One kid actually stepped on one of the arrows while my friend was playing, thus activating it, and didn't know what he was doing...
I'm kinda sick of the question "HOW DO YOU PLAY THIS GAME" and/or "HOW DO YOU READ THE ARROWS?"
Um, nubs shadowing. Please only shadow me if you're better than me. And don't get me wrong, there are a LOT of players who are better than me because I don't even have AAAs yet, but if you don't either... I don't want you on the pad next to me pretending to play during my set.
I really hate when kids or nubs screw over arcade etiquette. My friend was waiting like, 45 minutes today, and got cut by like an 8 year old and a 14 year old who wanted to play a Beginner set.
People who play without shoes... I don't know, maybe if you're like, really good without shoes, but there's this kid who plays no-shoes at the arcade I frequent, and he can barely AA anything, yet he insists he plays better that way. I'm thinkin', if you're under 93% DP for most of the game, you probably would play better if you put on a pair of shoes. Also, the shoes he complains about are huge boots... Just get a pair of sneakers, kid.
When there's a really, really, really long line, I can't stand kids who singlewhore. Unless they have a lot of AAAs. That's kind of the exception to most of the things that piss me off, except for the whole cutting thing. _________________

If you freestyle you should aim to please the crowd around you/show off bc that's the whole point. In addition, i wish those peeps would make sure that they can freestyle and get a decent grade in the end, like: A, AA, or AAA. Then, you can look amazing and have the letter grade to prove it.
Maybe some people like to dance just to have fun, but if you haven't AAA'd a song or don't care to improve then those people just waste others' time. I just don't care to see crappy freestylin' w/ a bad grade, especially if they manage to make it through 3 or 4 songs whilst "freestyling." |
umm you are retarded. when people freestyle, they usually arent playing for score. it doesnt matter if they get a good grade, all that matters is they're having a good time. i enjoy seeing n00bz enjoying DDR, it brings me back to the good ol' days where i played on light. if they go off and say "lol this game is gay," thats a different story.
but um yeah i freestyle(try 2 luv u...best song in DDR!) and i usually get a B or a C. i could care less. DDR pads suck too much to play competetively on. |

I completley agree with jpoppyz, I could just aim to get AAAs every single time I play ddr or I could jump around doing spins and knee drops and generally having fun without concentrating so much on my score. PAing is good and all but without mucking around it'd lose its appeal.
Also wasn't the whole point of ddr in the first place to be a dancing game? thats why its called dance dance revolution not PA PA revolution _________________

lol, yeah. There isn't anywhere decent for me to play in the arcade (unless I wanted to play DDR SN, which I loathe), so I only play at home. For that reason the only things I can cite are my mom nagging me while I'm trying to concentrate and my dog licking the sweat off my legs while I'm playing. And then of course the other dog getting pissed off at my fast movements and trying to jump on me. |
For a minute there, I almost thought it said "the dog trying to hump me"

Ok here is my list
1.people who stand and watch you as close to the bar as they can. I don't mind people watching me but when they start doing really annoying crap like that I get pretty angry. It can also really screw me up when I'm playing like the next reason I am about to mention.
2. Little kids who stand on the pad right next to you and try to shadow your movements and asks you questions about the game. I remember a little kid who came up on the pad next to me while I was playing Stoic (for extreme) on heavy and asked me "do you have move fast to play game?" I'm like yeah sure.....-_-;
3. People who stomp the arrows as hard as they can! Don't they know it could break the pad. (in FYE in Trumbull Mall where I live all the pads suck and I could bet you any amount of money it's because of excessive stomping)
4. I'm very sorry people but I'm pretty guilty of this one around summer time when I have very light clothing on I do play with nothing on my feet. |

Or say no and do Max 300 SMMMO, then explain that you need the blood of the innocent to play, just to be random.
But I had to deal with some kid stomping and being an intentional annoying little brat. You know those kinds of people where you tell them to stop poking you, then they start rubbing their finger on you and when you tell them to stop they're like "You said stop poking you."? Well, this kid was like that, only he continued poking. I lost my combo and fell short on AAing PARANOiA Rebirth for the first time in my life. I got so mad and wanted to kick him, but realized it was just a game. |
This is when you get in the face of the kid and yell something to the effect of "frick off". I stopped midsong to do that once (and didn't fail :o) and didn't see him ever again. _________________
