I plugged up my friend's softpad earlier, but i've been trying to get the global offset right ever since.

The game's registering my steps just after I hit them(screen looks like great attack)

so i'm just wondering which way i should go with the global offset? and does anyone got some suggested amounts to try for it?

Do you even know what the global offset does? It isn't that at all, it's the lag from your adapter.

All the global offset does is change the sync between the arrows and song.

I can almost guarantee you it's lag.

I'm almost sure that global offset is how you 'fix' the lag. (I say 'fix' because it doesn't make the lag nonexistent, but it adjusts it so your steps are accurate.)

So what's wrong with what s/he's doing again? blink.gif

My suggestion: try it both ways. See what works. It's what I'd do. *shrugs*

Go to the data folder in your stepmania program folder, open up stepmania.ini

Look for PadStickSeconds=0.000000 and change the 0.000000 to whatever. Try different values until you find one that you feel is the most accurate.

You can't "fix" lag by playing with the offset. You can compensate for it by enabling yourself to step to the beat and register perfects, but visually, it will look like you're hitting every arrow very early.
