I just called them and they shipped mine attached [although I specifically told them NOT to *grrrr*] , since that is the default when ordering the mod kits, they told me to give them a call to get the screws and proper panels shipped out to me. Maybe you can do the same? _________________

I'm going to, for sure. In fact, I could actually just lie and say I told them the same thing you did. They don't keep good enough records to know the difference, and it's not like I'm cheating them. I ordered the mat and the extra panels, the way they're doing it, I'm being cheated several panels and they're probably saving money. |

My point exactly, minus the lying part. lol I would tell them straight out, you paid MORE for LESS. But yeah, it just dawned on me today, that they don't keep records and that's why some ppl wait longer than others, and they always give evasive answers in emails and on the phone. Probably also why it takes so long, they get an order.... they call a vendor for parts, cuz they don't save any of the money they make on these babies either (IMHO). Anyhoo, back on track: The dude on the phone had NO clue if they shipped my doubles as ordered or not, but he told me, and I quote: "We've been doing one or two of these, we know our stuff, I'm sure they sent yours out right." So, I'll wait til Monday (and mark my words), get my doubles arcade mods attached and will call them and wait another month to get the screws, panels, and decals, so I can play on them flat. I'm already regretting ordering those silly things. LOL _________________

I emailed them one last time, and they swore to me that it would be shipping out Wednesday the 29th. Guess what? I just found out that it didn't. They didn't send me any tracking numbers on Wednesday, so I was praying that they just forgot to or were too lazy to update the information or something. Nope. They actually didn't ship it. This morning I woke up thinking "YES! If they shipped it Wednesday like they said they would, it should come in today!"
...
And then, just now, I get all my hope crushed by finally receiving my tracking number. It just got sent to UPS. JUST now.
|
I'm with you there. It's been 10 days since the 'awaiting shipment' appeared, I asked for a tracking # never got it. One evasive reply and one non-reply later, I get my number via Quantum View. Scheduled for delivery on the 10th (Monday). If the shipment stays on time then it'll be 74 days total for me.
And since my doubles are coming in two pacakges.... I wonder if they went ahead and installed the arcade mods after I specifically told them not to, and they promised they wouldn't. That would be a total bummer.... if Agent24's experience is any indication. |
Im new to ddr freak fourms but..I also ordered a cobalt flux on 6/25...and still havent recieved my doubles kit. I have also been calling them ever 2 days and they keep giving me dates and never fufill it(I was also told the 29th because aparently every Wensday is when they ship out orders.) The only way they sent the pads to Ups to get them shiped is because i kept calling until they finnally decided to put a rush order in for me (which the order went out 9pm that night of that call) I got fed up and I explain to the guy(wasn't ivery that picked up) that im very fusterated that i havent recieved my cobalt flux yeat. They offered to throw in 2 free aracade mods as an apology for taking so long to get this shiped out to me...
I finnally got the Ups tracking numbers via email but one thing im concerned is...Did they preinstall the arcade mod before shiping it out? I requested that they don't do that but im still not sure if they did or not.
So i recieved 2 ups tracking numbers and they both say its a multi package delievery (2 pakages each). Does this mean that they did include the mod by itself?
By the way, when it does get shiped here on sep 11, it will be 78 days(11 weeks and 1 day) |

Mine just arrived, but I'm having a problem with the Flux. I'm uncertain as to what the source of the problem is.
First and foremost I've tried running it using the TigerGame Xbox drivers and a spare cable from my USB hard drive. However, whenever I step on the pads fairly frequently within a time period of about 10 seconds, the pads stop working and Windows tells me there's insufficient bandwidth for the controller to maintain it's connection. I checked the game controller window afterwards and it read the device as "not connected".
At this point I'm uncertain whether this is simply the result of the cable not being good enough, or whether it could potentially be the TigerGame Xbox drivers. I tried installing the Microsoft Xbox 360 drivers, but it doesn't seem to do anything (unless the Tigerbox one IS the Microsoft drivers), as no Xbox controller option comes up in the "add device" or "add hardware" windows, it only allows me to select the Tigerbox drivers.
I am uncertain as to whether the cable from my USB hard drive is a USB1 or USB2 cable, but it goes quite fast on my hard drive, so I'm pretty sure it's USB2. I tried using the PS2 point with my PS2 to USB converter, but as I had expected, mine adds latency to the reaction of the pad, which is really annoying. Other than that, the PS2 connection seems to work fine.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
EDIT: It seems ok when I stick to 4 and 5 steps, though there are still occasions when the steps become more frequent that the pad drops out. One time when it dropped out, I got an error message from windows saying that the device was demanding 243% of USB power output from that slot, when most of the other devices were reading at 20%. It didn't give me any way of changing it though. |

All right, my pad is now out delivery. Will keep you all posted.
EDIT: Okay, so I got my pad in. Unfortunately, I have two issues.
1. It slides like crazy for me, even with the grips on. Would getting some "sheet rubber" and sticking it to the bottom of the pad help? Or would that crack the melanine?
2. The sensitivity sucks. I know this isn't what everybody says about CF, so I think it's something fixable. The up arrow is rarely responding for me... and you have to press REALLY hard to hit most of the arrows. What do you think I should do to fix this? Lighten the screws, or tighten them up? I think the up arrow is the worst of them all... a little screwdriver job might fix it.
Thanks. _________________

Did you debow the panels or whatever it's called? It's where you loosen the screws just a little bit. Helped with the sensitivity on mine. |

What kind of surface do you have your Flux on? I have mine on carpet and the griptape sticks to well to the floor that I can't even get the pad to slide across the floor. It's actually irritating. And the sensitivity is almost definitely a screw thing. You want the screws to be just tight enough so that the panels don't move. If they are too tight, the sheet metal bows and makes late contacts or no contact. Also, do you have an arcade mod on? The arcade mod made it far too awkward for me to play, because the elevation of the middle panel meant that I didn't hit the arrows until slightly after, giving me lots of Goods and Almosts. |

I ordered a doubles kit w/arcade mods on 06/28, and they are scheduled to arrive here on Monday, but according to track they are 130 miles from my house, so I'm hoping tomorrow. Anyhoo, I only got one tracking number and it's a 2 package shipment 45 pounds each. I'm guessing mine are attached, and that is the default, unless you tell them otherwise. I told them otherwise, but I still am 99% sure they didn't do what they were asked to do. So if you are getting 4 packages, then you must be getting the pads with the mods unattached. My guess. It's nice for them to throw in something extra for you. That goes to show that bad customer service should be somewhat alleviated. So much for the peeps that cry "email spammer" or "phone spammer" about the people who demand better for their money. _________________

Guess what came in the mail today for whatever reason? Another CF with the arcade mod. Obviously I'm not keeping it. Somebody else is waiting for a mat and I'm not going to rip off the company and make other people wait for another shipment. Especially if they sent it to me instead of someone else. They might not get their order. I'm thinking that what happened is that they never changed the status on my order, so they thought I was still waiting on a mat. It would make sense, considering that they never charged the credit card. My mother is going to see if they charged it now. |

Holy cow! That's freaked.... definitely. More evidence to their poor record keeping... just call UPS or whoever delivered it back, and refuse it, they'll ship it back free of charge to CF... well do that AFTER you let them know and your Mom made sure she's not gonna get charged for it. Triples anybody? *gee*
Oh oh... mine still says awaiting shipment.... hmmmm.... _________________

I'll have to go over to my uncle's house to confirm it, as I haven't seen it yet (it was delivered there, because that's where it was supposed to be for me birthday, it just arrived over a month after my birthday). Also, my order still says Awaiting Shipment and it was delivered several weeks ago. I think that may be the problem, I don't know. But it's probably routine for them to not bother updating it. |

Gee- Don't worry about it. It's because the screws were too tight. Works great now, although I think I have to tweak it a bit more in order to keep away the ghosts. As for shipping, it went pretty fast here... from Tuesday to Friday. 3 days... but then again, I'm only two states away.
Quote: | Did you debow the panels or whatever it's called? It's where you loosen the screws just a little bit. Helped with the sensitivity on mine. |
I just tried that. As I said above, I took a screwdriver and undid them until the panels could be moved around (albeit very slightly). I then screwed them back in, one by one, until the panels stopped moving. That what you mean?
Quote: | What kind of surface do you have your Flux on? I have mine on carpet and the griptape sticks to well to the floor that I can't even get the pad to slide across the floor. I play the Flux on a tiled flooring, similar to a kitchen. I didn't get an arcade mod, because I felt like I could get used to it over time... which I am hopefully starting to do, even after just a day of playing. I've managed to pass songs I haven't passed before at home, such as Cartoon Heroes, Sakura, etc... I've passed them in arcade rather easily but at home? Nope.
As for the sliding issue, it's been somewhat fixed. I took this green rubber mesh thing I found around the house (it's very thin) and stuck it underneath. It ceased to move much at all after that. My only question, though, is this: Will this crack the melanine? I can get an image up of the "mesh" if anyone wants to see it.
Another CF? XDDD That's awesome... but it would be wrong to keep it, eh? If I got one (hoping I don't), I'd call CF immediately and let them know. I'd then call UPS and ship it back. But since it's the weekend, it might just be best to ship it back and drop an email to CF letting them know what's coming their way.
Tranced: I really, really hope you get your pads ASAP. I feel for ya.
Another thing: I plugged the CF into the computer earlier to test it out using the drivers CF gives, but the panels seemed to lag immensely every once in awhile. I'm gonna try to find out why. I'm not using any converters at all; only the attachment that comes out of the CB.
EDIT: Found out what was wrong with the computer. The driver that CF gives you isn't compatible with left-right or up-down movements. I'll be posting up a FAQ shortly in this topic on how to run a CF on your computer. _________________

The mesh thing would have to be so thin that there's no way it will damage the base. Don't worry about it. |

Installing a Cobalt Flux to your Computer
by KirbyRockz, 9/8/07
So, trying to get your Cobalt Flux to function properly on your PC? The drivers that Cobalt Flux gives you themselves is faulty, and will not function correctly for most players. Basically, it can perform any arrow direction, but if you try to press Up+Down or Left+Right, it won't register it in the game. This is because, on a regular Xbox controller (what the USB module is designed for), the D-Pad cannot be pressed with left-right, or up-down. So, we'll have to use a different driver.
(Note: Before you begin this, if you tried the TigerGame drivers or any other drivers to make this work, you must uninstall it. To do this, plug in your CF and go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager. Look under Human Interface Drivers, and right click the driver you currently have installed. Choose "Uninstall." You should be set now. Unplug the CF when it's finished uninstalling.)
Because the drivers CF gives are faulty, we'll have to get a new one, and with that a new program. Go to this website...
http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html
...and download the newest version (as of writing this guide, it's version 1.07). Once it's finished, run it and you'll get a message saying this:
Quote: | If this is not an upgrade, you will need to uninstall the existing Xbox controller in Device Manager before continuing. Do you wish to continue? |
Since we already uninstalled the previous one (if you had one), hit Yes to continue. Next, install the program wherever you wish. IMPORTANT!!! Make sure you do NOT install the Rumble Support when prompted to do so. Doing so may cause permanent damage to your Control Box. At the end of the installation, you'll need to unplug your CF and plug it back in. It will prompt you to do so.
When the Windows "Found New Hardware" screen shows up, choose to "Install the software automatically". The driver isn't digitally signed, so it will probably prompt you with a warning. Accept the driver, then hit "Finish" when you're done. Another "Found New Hardware" screen will show. Do the same as above with this one as well.
When the installation is complete, open the program. It should be in your Start Menu. When you do so, you'll encounter a screen that looks similar to this:
Now, at its present state, this program will do exactly what the official CF drivers will do -- ignore Left+Right or Up+Down. To fix this, press the box that says "POVu" at the top of the D-Pad in the center of the screen. A new screen will pop up:
Choose "Button", and use the dropdown menu to choose "Button 4". Press "OK". Next, choose the "POVl" button, and change it to "Button 3". Next, change "POVr" to "Button 2". Finally, change "POVd" to "Button 1". To finish up, on the main menu, change the buttons on the bottom that say "B1", "B2", "B3", and "B4" to "None". You're all set.
Press "Apply", then boot up StepMania to check the results in "Test Input". It should work perfectly. The only thing left to do now is remap the buttons. Hope this helps some people.
Disclaimer: This is an unofficial guide, and thus I assume no responsibility for problems, such as PC errors, faulty drivers, or CF issues. Basically, don't sue me if something messes up. _________________
