i don't personally have the HDD running because i dont have a controllr converter so it'd be sorta pointless. but i can try to help you get it work using some resources i have.

w00t! I finnally got it working after finding a replacement .exe for distorted. Now it works fine. On a Vista Laptop strangly enough.

Edit: Well, its sorta working. Iv got some problems though.

1. The intro video doesnt play. It plays the sound but nothing shows up until the DistorteD title comes up.

2. Background videos on songs dont show up. On some songs the video shows up for a split second and then disappears.

3. The songs are horribly off-sync. The notes scroll slower than the background music.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Gotta question about DJ Points for RED & Happy Sky. I've got about 900-ish of them & need 100 more to get another pic for my collection. I need help earning more. BESIDES "play more songs & beat them" & "play doubles" (that'd help alot, but I don't have a extra BM controller & PS2 DuelShock is hell figuring out)....Or are those the only 2 ways?

This is it, right? Or does it just apply to 10th?

After buying my Japanese PS2, I decided to (re)buy the US Beatmania. Looking forward to using the controller with the import games when I get around to picking them up. I'm not sure if I like the American release as far as song selection goes, but if nothing else, it's good practice for me.

Up to the four-star IIDX songs now and I'm enjoying it thus far.

I've read that the American release wasn't particularly made well and more seasoned BM fans feel the game is weak or incomplete. I'm new to the game and I'm not sure why there are 5-key exclusive songs and vice versa for IIDX. ...why not just combine both lists and allow the player to decide how to play?

I hope the Japanese versions are better in this regard.

Comparing the American realease to the Japanese, you can certainly tell the difference in quality.

I didn't think the US release had a bad songlist, because there were a lot of clsssics in there I loved to play, but the songlist was a little over half the size of other Japanese releases. I didn't care for 5 key mode at all, and I hated how some of the songs were horribly off beat.

The learning curve was pretty steep compared to DistorteD and Happy Sky, where I struggled to break the level 5-6 barrier.

As for graphics and interfaces, the latest Japanese mixes I've played go all out. I absolutely love how they make their menus look and feel, and the DistorteD theme is amazing.

I dropped my controller on the floor and found something by accident. Maybe I'm a noob for not knowing this before, but holding down the corresponding key in the options menu when 5-key, random, or mirror is highlighted will have some additional effects. 5-key moves the no-play section to the opposite side, random throws in the turntable to be swapped, and I'm not sure what mirror does, but I'm guessing it moves the turntable notes to be replaced with the far key? I thought it was cool, but I'm just surprised I haven't seen it documented before.
