What USB converters and/or control boxes and/or hardware are you guys using to get your CF's to work on a computer?

OK guys Im pretty sure Im gonna order a cobalt flux but I have a couple of questions first. Is the run of cheap quality pads over? Ive just got information on all of this yesterday but I heard that around Christmas the quality of the pads dropped significantly. Secondly I play all of my ddr games on my original xbox. I emailed the cobalt flux eople and they sent me an email saying the pad can plug into my xbox using usb...but the xbox doesnt use usb....so thats kind of confusing. Does it work on xbox or not? And lastly are there any plans to release a 360 compatible pad? And if not could I just purchase a different control box somehwere down the line if they ever make one that supports the 360? Thanks for any help. Im pretty excited to get this thing.

There's a compatibility list on Stepmania's website.
http://www.stepmania.com/wiki/USB_Adapters
Also, the new control box has a USB plug that works on PC with the download of a driver.

read back some. i dont know how many people have asked this question recently.

but yes, the run of bad pads is over. they switched back to their old suppliers a while back i believe.

and with the xbox thing, i thing there is an xbox plug on the control box, but i dont remember. if not, there are usb-to-xbox adaptors out there, and if you cant find one, make it. pm me and i'll show you how.

Sorry for asking a question thats already been answered. Would anyone be kind enough to take a picture of the end of the chord on their flux so I could see how it plugs into the xbox? Also My entire house (other than kitchen adn bathrooms) is carpeted with very thick carpeting. Is keeping the flux on carpeting bad? I heard one guy had his crack and someone said it was because it was on carpet.

Well I went back a couple of pages and read a lot and Ive decided against getting one. Lots of talk of quality control issues, pads having to be sent back, not working out of the box, and ridiculous wait times to get them made and shipped.

I don't think it would damage your carpeting or flux if you used it on carpet. I had it on carpet for a day, and the only problem I had was it slipping.
The pad itself is great, and the shipping problems were just because they had problems with one of their distributors. They seem to be filling orders regularly now.

I've only heard about 1 or 2 people ever having it not work out of the box.

Are there any more active forums that deal with the cobalt flux? Every ddr forum I find is dead.

This forum's not dead. It's just that this topic has always been slow.

Anyway, I got another email from CF. I asked them this:

Quote:
Hello,

Sorry for a third email, but I had just one more question, or rather,
a request. (If you need it again, my order number is #####, username =
#######) My father won't be paid until this coming Monday, so, if
my Cobalt Flux pad is finished being built by this coming Monday (July
31st), could you not charge or ship until Monday? If you can, thank
you so much. This is, of course, assuming that it could be completed
before this coming Monday. If it is not completed by Monday, then
don't worry abou this at all.

Thanks.

Response:

Quote:
Hi,

That will not be a problem! I will make sure not to charge the card till
after Monday. If you have any other questions or request feel free to ask!

Thank you!

Note the way they responded. Makes it sound like they actually are finished and won't charge until after Monday. But, you never know.

You can try asking in the gaming forums on Gaiaonline. That site's active as hell, but you will get more worthwhile responses on here, ITGFreak, or bemanistyle 99.9% of the time.

i have the Dilong pu203 adapter and it works with my cobalt flux.
I tried to use joy to key and it was able to work for PUMP IT UP the PREX 3 and other PC versions, but now i've tried to play the games and it doesn't work. i checked the drivers and the buttons in the Control Panel under Game Controllers and the buttons register. one thing i see is that for each button the AUTO is OFF. i don't remember if it was like that before. I have the right buttons mapped on the joy to key. does any one know what is wrong?

YES. Bad. Not good. Poop. If you're going to have it on carpet, your best bet is to invest in a nice big sheet of plywood to stick it on. Your pad will thank you.

When did you order, and when is your son's birthday? Also, did they actually say they were shipping now?

Its convenient situations like Alderaic's that really confuse me. I just got confirmation that my pad had shipped yesterday after I had waited two months for mine. oh well, I'm just happy that mine finally shipped!! E4.gif E4.gif E4.gif E4.gif

same, I just got conformation that my pad shipped when I ordered it in the very beginning of june. It kinda annoys me that it took so long and people that ordered afterwards got it before me but it's on the way now.

it said it was shipping because I received UPS tracking, CF website still says pending.
Also they were waiting on CBoxes, so as soon as they received them they ship all the pads that are ready, I guess it covers from beginning of June to somewhere in July

I ordered on June 27. My mat is still "Being Built". If I'm going to have to wait on another shipment of Cboxes, I probably won't get my mat till late August or September, maybe even early October.
