Lol I'm doing that too!
I don't think its unnecessary. I think its would ensure the sensitivity of the pad. | Oh, it definitely will, but that doesn't mean it's a needed thing. Just look at official arcade pads. lol But man, 64 mending brackets cost me $55. |

i honestly think that any more than four sensors (one for each corner) will actually reduce the sensitivity of the pad, since you'll have to push against twice as many of those little mousepads as normal. Its also much more expensive (i got 16 pairs of corner brackets for 16 bucks). It might be harder to troubleshoot too.
DMS: since you already bought enough brackets for 32 sensors, why not make two pads instead?
just my 2 cents _________________

I'm probably going to get a lot more than I usually do because this year, I'm going to Puerto Rico (I have family there) for two weeks starting august 8th.
My birthday is august 14th, so I'm going to have two birthdays.
One there, and one here (after I come back) so I'm gonna make two pads with a bar.
I don't have a computer for ITGPC, so I'm going to take one of my school's old computers and update the graphics card such.
I go to this Lounge place at my school with my ps2 and ddr pads (they suck)
and everyone is like, "Oh can I try?" Then they fail dawn on novice.
So if I get one of those coin things, I can make 50 cents every time someone plays, and I get to see ppl make fools of themselves.
EDIT:I hadn't thought of that (what you said about the more brackets=less sensitivity) So yea I'll just stay with 32 brackets instead of (omg) 64. |

It would actually make it more sensitive, since there are more hit-targets. As long as one is down, it would activate the button(right?) and since you have more sensors, there is less chance of pad misses. |

After what you said about the price, I'll stick with 32 sensors for two pads then, if I notice any lack of sensing, I'll just add more sensors. |

with four sensors there are no dead spots (assuming they're in the corners) ... every single possible spot on the pad WILL hit a sensor
Edit: i think i'll be making my pad this weekend (i'm helping my g-ma out tomorrow and she'll give me the money i need to pick up the plywood) ... its a very cheap design but my hope was to acheive maximum performace/price since i have like no money atm XD .... i'll take pics and hopefully give performance numbers by early next week _________________

i don't play doubles either... basically because i never had a chance to... i think it would be fun though... you're sure you don't have any friends or family that would want to use it with you?
you could put x and o panels on the pad... _________________

Nah, I never really liked that idea. And I won't be using it for the PS2 much, anyway, since I have ITG PC.
Eh, I could just return them. |

DMS, you said you only found 1/8" thick plastic. I wouldn't recommend changing the wood dimensions, just making double the plastic panels so it equals 1/4". I did this for two of my panels because that's what I had for scraps. |

DMS, you could use the remaining brackets to reinforce the base and bar. _________________

does anyone know how much weight these pads can hold?
I weigh around 344-350 lbs
and is there a way I can replace the 2x4 and base board with metal to support my weight?
thanks |

Well, got the base built, and test fit the wooden panels. I must have miscut or something, because they are SLIGHTLY off when I align them. I figure it will be a bit less noticable when I put the sheet metal on. And it's nothing too big, anyway. Won't affect performance of the pad. |

I'm afraid that my birthday, me going to Puerto Rico, and my Parents' anniversary is interfering with the amount of time I have before I leave.
I'm going to have to wait until I come back to build it.
Even then, my parents still said that we may go to Wildwood or Cape May after we get back from Puerto Rico. (We may; its not absolute yet)
I'm not going to be able to start this until like before September.
...just in time for school. |
