so one of my somewhat near arcades(about 40 min away) upgrading there PREX3 DX cab to NX. i plan on checking it out this weekend. any ideas for what my first set should be(i play crazy/freestyle mostly)?

My four favorite charts in each:

CZ: One Night, Dim Memory, For You, My Brother Is Street Singer
FS: Bullfighter's Song, Final Audition Episode 2-1, So(a very, disappointingly easy NM)

Hyun Jin Young Go Jin Young go is suicide on CZ/NM, too easy on FS, but the Hard is fun. So's is, too.

Pennsylvania has no DDR/ITG machines. Never will. However, we do have Pump (probably because all the places that have Pump are not arcades/cheap) everywhere.

The first time I played Pump, was, ironically, right after the first time I played DDR. At DisneyQuest on vacation two years ago. After we came back, we bought DDR as a form of exercise.

The second time I played was at the Dave & Buster's in Pittsburgh. I ran around the entire games area looking to find a DDR machine. But I found a PIU Zero machine.

The hilarious thing is, even though I've gotten better at the game since then, my limit is still a 7. But people still stare at me and gawk.

When we went to the Philadelphia D&B, I got a crowd of 20 people playing "don't bother me" (my favorite song =P) and they kept saying "omg" and "how does he do that"?

PIU has good stepcharts and great songs and the BGAs are killer.

But PIU < DDR < ITG. =P

We believe that the secret is in Mexican cuisine (referring to the insane abilities of the Mexican PIU community)...

I'm curious, what's the hardest CZ you can pass at this time? (with bar or no-bar, whichever you prefer) There's some easy Nightmares to work on that skill set.

why of course. haha. ive passed moonlight with no stage break, i got a B on it. i was surprised, and i tend to never use the bar. its incredibly frowned upon where i live. also the bars suck and are a bit wobbly. i dont know how to use them i guess, cuz my movement becomes really limited.
i have passed winter on crazy too. tried canon-D but got an F cuz shoes were really grippy. riiight.gif sucks.

thanks to not using the bar though, when i go back to playing ddr, i forget there's a bar. biggrin.gif i passed psmo without it the other day :O but i got a C.

i guess im a level 8-13 at the time..need work on my coordination. still getting used to the 5 arrow style.

Still trying to get better, with all the crappy machines here in NJ. Ugh. I guess my best score is a B on Dignity Crazy, stage break off (well, it was the first song...) which is pretty good I think. Some songs still blow my mind though...I'm talking to you, LIADZ.

so i went to play NX yesterday....it was the first time i'd played pump in like, months. the cabinet was an upgraded DX cab, so the pads weren't exactly the most amazing thing in the world(registering holds was a doggy), but it worked pretty well overall. i also noticed the arcade put the bars on backwards(as in the parts that stick out on the end are going into eachother), but like i said, it was decent.

1 thing i didnt like about NX was that some songs were incredibly loud and some were nearly impossible to hear. like, i'd play Fly and i could barely hear it but when i play Go, it was more than loud enough. very confusing. also for some reason, with our upgrade it will like not respond for the first 3 seconds of a song...its really weird, and on some songs you'd almost fail because of this. idk what the deal with that was.

still, overall, NX was totally awesome and i hope to go back and play it again soon!

edit: this is jpoppyz post. BX^3 was over here last night and stayed logged in i guess. haha.

Moonlight CRAZY?! If you can pass that, you are clearly NOT a lvl 8-13 PIU player, but at least lvl 21 and above (I max out at 19 or so). That song is NOT easy by any means.

Also, about the above poster's NX machine... that's definitely not supposed to happen in NX, since the NXs I've played on had every song equalized fine, except for the songs from O.B.G (We Are, Love Song, Don't Bother Me, etc.).... it sounds like your upgrade is kind of messed up... or maybe the speakers need to be checked out, since that's definitely not normal NX behavior.

Don't worry about it... I can't pass that song either. frown.gif It's a high level song needing plenty of stamina, twisting, and reading capability for slowdowns...

according to everyone i heard, the speakers were fine when it was PREX3. on pump-haven, i think kuhazan(one of the few pump players around here) talked about it....if you go there look around for it. should be about a place called craigs cruisers in holland michigan.

Feh, that's totally normal NX behavior. Go Back and Fly are virtually impossible to hear while Pray and Love Song will knock you off the pads. (So it's not limited to OBG songs.)

I only have access to an exceed 2 here :/, on top of that there's not many people here who like pump at all :/ so running a tourney is pretty hard.

I did this just today, it was with breakoff but im still pretty happy with it:

Exceed 2, from what i remember, is still quite a good machine. Although I still feel your pain from not having either a Zero or NX. frown.gif. Pump is still a good thing to have around (we don't have it local, in a decent-sized college town. Wish Chuck-E-Cheese was going to put them in all arcades like I thought they were).

Anyone here from san diego california? Theres a brand new NX cab in a new place called La Bellas cafe/pizza whatever. Its located near the Chula Vista mall. Nice place, anyway, anyone seen the new cab? looks pretty damn futuristic, I dont really play pump but I felt like I had to try it just because of the damn good presentation. Its 75 cents to play and the pads are PERFECT.

KOFFreaK, I've actually played on your machine......while it was on display at the ASI convention in Las Vegas this year, haha. La Bella's owners bought it at the con.

If you're lucky, you might run into Overdeath there, who is one of the Korean stepmakers for the game. He's currently living there in San Diego.
