That's how I dance when I freestyle.

Except I'm way hotter.

The one and only reason girls don't play DDR is this
Because dancing is gay. Well that's what all the preppy, immature girls in my class say.

It's true. That's the image.

Because most people see immature scene guys playing DDR on beginning acting as stereotypically gay as they can, rather than seeing accomplished DDR players kicking buttocks on heavy.

Seriously, before all my friends saw me play, they thought it was the gayest thing in the world.

People at my school used to think DDR was gay. After watching me play, they think it's an inherently Asian trait. E13.gif

Kids in my school also associate DDR with being Asian. I'm a girl and I only know a handful of girls in my school that play, however most aren't very good. If I ask my friends to play with me, they always say "No" because they are worried they will look like fools. Everyone starts off not really knowing anything and once you get a feel for the game DDR becomes much more natural. But, I think generally girls are scared to look like idiots for that "learning" period and don't even give it a chance.

The majority of girls in my school also think it's really gay and stupid and Asian for anyone to play DDR....so they don't participate.

DDR needs to become a sellout in the States again so that the local nickel arcade can have 4 DDR machines like it used to AND THEY'LL ACTUALLY BRING IN PROFIT. frown.gif

Seriously, there used to be a 15 minute wait for DDR from open to close at the arcade with 4 machines.

I missed that era 'cause I suck, and didn't start playing DDR at the arcade until after it was dead.

Don't start!

Also, we have these emo and goth kids ya know? They think they're badass rather than trying to be gay.

Different from Portland eh CHarlie? E13.gif

Girls don't play because DDR makes you look incredibly dumb and nerdy...which girls don't like.

All the emo people here are total twigs with low blood iron levels. Also, I think Portland's strong liberal population has kind of made gay into something cool here, so there's a lot of people who act gay because it's funny, or because everyone's too stoned off their asses to commit hate crimes at them. E15.gif

Dakota:
Again, the same thing's happened here, where the nerdy scene is "cool". Young people in liberal rural areas tend to be very silly like that.

So you get a lot of posers here.

I'm a girl who plays DDR and I play on Heavy. I've double AA'd a couple of times but I normally stay aroung the A/B range. I have DD's so it was awkward at first but I got a really good sports bra so that's that.

I think there's a lot of girls who play DDR but they play in their house so that they wouldn't have to deal with the emo crowd that pratically lives around the DDR machine at the arcade. It seems like no matter how good you do, if you're not in their crew, they'll heckle you, harass you, you'll wait in line forever, or act like spoiled impatient brats who just want you to get away from their toy. That's why I don't play in public and I'm sure that's why a few others don't play. I feel like DDR is made unapprochable because of the resident players at the arcade and girls may feel insecure or they just don't wanna deal with that crap.

Um, what?

The last time an emo kid stepped on my didder machine was back in April, and he left immediately when I played OMGZHEAVYSOOOHARD!

Seriously, I've never met an emo person who was actually good at DDR. If you can play heavy, you should be able to go to the arcade and get respect from pretty much any real DDR player.

You'd think that but that doesn't happen at the arcade I go to. They're jerks, like I said.

I don't know if they're emo but they all dress like Hot Topic poster children. Plus they all play Frozen Ray and do the spin thing. They're good players they just annoy me, but they seem to deter everyone else who expresses interest in the game.

Just my own personal experience and my opinion.

Hey, anybody can play video games. You even see old men or people in business suits playing DDR, no joke. Anyway, a few girls I know play DDR, they aren't that bad and they're pretty proud of playing the game.

DDR's sort of the thing nobody would really spend their time on unless they were impressed, as stated before; you only see the person stereotypically doing the craziest things they can on beginner in the arcade so you think the game's stupid. I thought my cousin was insane when she asked me to play, but I love rhythm games so it was all good. Girls just don't like how its not casual for them to play-- for guys its casual because that's all you'd see in the arcade, couple girls on beginner, but they'd never really be that motivated to get into it because there's too little in the area they can relate to.

That's sort of my view.

Someone actually called me out at work, telling me I wasn't good because I'm not Asian. Then I told him to ask around the store and he asked several Asian guys and they had never even tried DDR. hahaha

I know this one girl who I played with who was cool and had good rhythm. She was great at doing spins, much better than me. If she had more time to play she could have been great. And she wasn't grossed out by my DDR sweat (well, technically it was Pump It Up sweat, but you guys can lay off on the lame Pump It Up jokes however applicable they may be in this context). She hugged everyone every time when they were done playing, lol.

I know a girl who has been playing for 5 years and is on 10-footers. She's very well.. 'endowed' and it doesn't bother much at all.
