They're either worth well over 300 or they're unplayable. If you want to play it safe though, just build a homebrew. You can build a $500 pad for $150. _________________

Are BNSUSA DX Fusion/Sparkle pads (the foam insert ones, that is) or whatever they're called from buynshop.com as good as everyone says they are? My Konami soft pad(that came bundled with Ex2)'s down arrow is going all wonky so I need a new one (or two), fast. I won't be able to live without DDR for long. ;; So, in other words, I really like the look of them and they're supposed to be very good, but is this worth the $165.90 USD (about $177.25 CDN right now) it'll cost to ship them to Canada? (the prices are good, it's the shipping that just...ouch.) And will they last long? (I have hardwood floors if that makes a difference) |

That's what I had for about a year. They're great if you mod 'em right as soon as you get 'em. Otherwise, they'll wear out pretty fast on heavy mode. _________________

Hi, I own DDR Extreme 2 and play on Heavy/Challenge. I like my RO Ignition 3.0 pad but I'm looking for a good, durable, arcade-like metal pad. I'm thinking of the BlueShark. But I have one question. Where's a trustworthy place to buy one without a bar? I've been looking on MyMyBox and other places and can't find one without a bar . |

The thing is I don't have access to the materials tools giving that I do live in a small town. Plus I'm 13 and my parents wouldn't wanna go through the trouble to make me a "stupid dancing pad". So could someone just give me a good link to a Blue Shark metal pad w/o bar? Thanks. |

150. Posted: Fri Jul 06, 2007 9:22 am Post subject: Looking for advice on which hard pad to buy (PC & xbox) |
|
|
Summary:
What two hard pads should I buy? I need ones that are durable, and will work on xbox & pc for less than $300 each.
Details:
Hi, I want to buy two hard pads. Right now I would be using them on the xbox, but at some point I'd like to be able to use them on the PC.
I've used soft pads that I modded (just tapped a foam piece to the back), and I've also used the ignition 3.0. The 3.0 ignition has been pretty crappy. We got two, and within 1-2 months each was having serious problems registering arrow presses. They were under warranty, so we got them replaced, but then we couldn't play for a while, so they are out of warranty now, and one has already failed.
I'm willing to pay up to $300 per pad, as long as it is going to last.
Thanks! |

A good homebrew done right should cost about $150 to make. _________________

Personally, my idea for getting bars to be sturdier on home mats was filling the hole with some kind of sealant after inserting the bar (ie the kind you use to fill spaces in a bathtub or wall tiling). It would be permanent however, if you wouldn't be able to move the mat around to a friend's house (not that a three inch, heavy as hell Blue Shark is very portable anyway). |

we see your point every two posts, so dont worry they probably all already know that they can do a homebrew, you know with the sticky posts they can also see that they can get info on homepads.
maybe if people keep asking for pads to buy, its because they dont want to spend time doing one... and from someone who actually hasnt completed one in almost what a year, you are not the best placed to advise about a homebrew.
no flame, but you dont take the hints from everyone that we dont want to see make a homebrew in every single post ever made in that forum. _________________

(Read this directly above if you want. Saving space here.) |
Reeks of flamebait.
Going to have to agree here with Alderaic. A lot of people don't have the time, the technical knowledge, or the ambition to make a homebrew pad. Which is why they want to buy. I myself know that if I could throw down the time to do it and I had someone to put it together, I would do it. I'd probably tweak off of devout's design. Sad thing is, I can't. Just doesn't work. And really, reading back, it's hard not to see the word "homebrew" every other post.
At the same time, I think I know why Charlie/DT said homebrew in this case: $200 isn't going to buy you a metal pad that's longlasting, and that's how much the person had to spend. But I do agree that "build a homebrew" has a little bit more playtime than may be necessary in this forum. But, considering the shitty or super-expensive choices people have for DDR pads, what else is there to do?
Looking back, I think {unknown name} (I forgot what you used to call yourself, blah...) has the balance down right. |
