So I've had my Cobalt Flux for a couple of weeks now.
When the UPS guy brought it to my door, he wouldn't give it to me though because I wasn't 21, and for some reason Cobalt Flux required the signee to be 21 or over... and even though the guy just struggled to carry that whole pad to me, he wouldn't let me have it even though it had my name on it.
So I had to go after 4pm that day and get it with my brother... but I got there before my brother and the UPS guy at the Customer Service area didn't even look at anything else on that slip and just brought the flux out and gave it to me. Weird.
Anyways, I somehow got it in my car like this:
I was really upset with the packaging though. They put it plainly with that foam thing, and there's small foam all over the pad, inside panels, and all over the control box. And when you take it out of the box, like someone earlier posted, it really is like a snow storm of Styrofoam all over your floor. They could have saved all that trouble if they just simply wrapped the pad itself in some kind of plastic bag or something. Then none of the foam would have gotten in the panels. Oh well.
So before I even started using it, I cleaned it. But after that, I finally hooked it up to my PS2 and tried some DDR, and it worked flawlessly. I was able to AA 4 songs in the a row right away. Then I moved it to my computer and hooked it up with a PS2->USB converter. I got the converter on Play-Asia and it said on that site that it was optimized for cobalt fluxes. It sure was, because it worked without a hitch for ITG and Stepmania.
I still need a better bar solution because I'm using a wooden step stool behind the pad, and it's kind of short and hurts a little. I might try that mod with adding a base and screwing some holes in the back and putting in a bar sometime. That doesn't sound too complicated.
The sensing of the pad and all that is amazing though. I've done some 11 foot songs, and have been putting quite a bit of pressure on the pad, and it's holding tough. It has some smear marks already from my shoes, but nothing I can't clean off later.
Oh, and it comes with 4 non-slip pads that you put below the pad and as long as your on some kind of hard surface (i have tiles) it seems to stay really still. I was on carpet when I was playing on my PS2, and it slipped just a tiny bit that I noticed while playing a few songs, but it doesn't move at all on my tile floor at my computer.
It's definitely worth the money. So far at least, we'll see how it goes in another 2 months or a year.

Icebird3 when you tried 11 foot songs on your cobalt flux did you feel you had to stomp on the pad? because in my pad my brother tried playing some 11 foot songs 3x speed in ITG and he said the sensitivity was horrible because he had to kind of stomp on the pad or step more on the center of the arrow. |

That picture kind of reminds me of that time we ran out of space in a moving truck and had to use our car. I didn't need to wear a seatbelt because if we crashed I wouldn't've had anywhere to go flying towards. _________________

So, tomorrow I'm placing my order for a Cobalt Flux. Hopefully everything will go well.
I have two questions:
1. I've heard many things about this one, so I just need some confirmation. What does the actual CF and box let you connect to out of the box? Is it PS2 only? Or does it support GC (I want the Wii DDR XD) and PC (or will I have to order a PS2->PC converter...)
2. What does the arcade mod make a pad look like, exactly? Does anyone have a picture?
Thanks. _________________

The Cobalt Flux connects to only the PS2 right out of the box. However, you can purchase adaptors for the systems you want to connect it to. The arcade mod comes in black and I think clear. I have the black one and heres a picture of it with my weird yet funky arrows. The arcade mod is only the black part and not the bar. It also comes with some longer screws and those silver parts in between the arrows. The bar is something I built for it along with the little wooden thing to set the pad in. I hope this helps.

Joe: You rock. Thanks a million.
So the pad just got ordered... I just have one more question, though. I got a confirmation email that said "Your payment has been received successfully", but the order history says "Will charge when shipped". Does this mean they haven't charged me yet? _________________

No problem. For your question about you not being charged yet, I think it's saying that they have received your method of paying for it and they won't actually take money until the pad has been shipped. I'm pretty sure that what it means but what's the big deal if they didn't charge you yet? |

Ah, cool. Thanks again.
It's not a huge issue... but the person paying for this is my dad (18th birthday present FTW!) and it's only fair to let him know if they've taken the money out yet or not :-P Extreme situation, but he could possibly spend all the money on his account only to find that they haven't taken the money for the Flux out yet. Yeah, probably not gonna happen but for fairness' sake.
Again, thanks _________________

Does anyone had a link to a good bar mod for CF's? Im sure its somewhere in this thread but thats 88 pages long and would probably be easier for someone to answer it then to search it out. The one in the pic above looks pretty nice but really anything will do. _________________

If you're talking about my bar mod, then thank you! It's really nice but my mom's fiance made it for me so there's no website. Sorry. |

I found them on cobaltflux.com and I tried to post the link for it but it says error so they probably were taken off the site or somethin like that. Oh and I got them printed at a local printing place err whatever. |

Does anyone have the telephone number for cobalt flux? I ordered longer ago than some people in the forums that have already had theirs delivered and mine is still "being built" so I'd like to find out what the story is. |

I received my control box on 7/3 and I could hook it directly to my computer via USB or to my ps2. I did need to download some drivers, however. But the best part is that there is absolutely no lag at all. |

Wow, same boat I'm in. My parents ordered my Flux for my 18th birthday.

Yes, I had heard rumors that they had finally added a USB plug to their control box, but was unsure of the validity of this statement. If they had, this would be great, because I have yet to order an adapter. I'm used to playing on a Blade which has direct USB connectivity.

I believe they used to have a phone number, but it looks like they took it down. Still, they respond if you email. My mother emailed to change the order to have them change it to black and textured rather than the clear and smooth arcade mod and they responded in about a day.
EDIT: I found the phone number in the help section.

Great and huge news for new customers!
By the way, I've had my pads for 17 months and no issues. |
