I'm reposting this because it has little to do with the specific model of the pad, it could apply to any foam pad, hence it doesn't belong in the specific thread just for the specific pad. I don't want to mod this pad (hard-foam) with wood or composite board or anything, so with that in mind, how do you stop a hard foam pad from slipping on a hard wood floor? |

hah that's what i was thinking.
if you go to the hardware section of lowes, you can probably find some "non-slip" things that people stick under furniture. but look carefully, because most of that stuff is to make stuff easier to slide _________________

Well, duct tape and other types of "adhesives" are out of the question because I need to put the pad up against the wall when I'm not using it, I won't have it in the location permanently and I don't want to fasten it to the ground with tape each time I play. The anti-furniture sliding suggestion is a good one, though, I'll look into that! Any more? |

That furniture stuff might not be a permanent solution, though. The kind we had wore out after awhile. Still, it's probably better than what you've got. Other than that, I've got nothin'. |

Half a second. This thread isn't getting locked, but I am pointing out that you made no general mention of making foam-insert pads less slippy. Wording was very specific.
Otherwise, good reasoning. |

Retrospectively, agreed. I should have clarified and worded it better, was too ambiguous! Thanks for being understanding and level-headed |

For hardwood floors, the "non-slip" bottom should work fine.
For tile floors, I'd attach thin rubber strips along the bottom of the pad.
For concrete floors, you'd have to ask someone else.
For carpet, us industrial grade velcro. Don't get the kind with fine hooks though; that won't attach to the carpet at all.
The risk with not modding it is that the bottom will most definitely tear. _________________

Where would you be able to buy industrial grade velcro? _________________

Hm. . . I actually wouldn't know for sure, but you could probably find some at Lowe's or Home Depot. Perhaps a hobby shop? I know my mom got some to keep the ~80 futon mattress from slipping off the frame, and my friend uses it to keep his Cobalt Flux in one place, but I never asked where they got it. Sorry I can't be of more help there. xP _________________

Lowes and home depot do indeed carry "industrial strength velcro". The trick is finding it since it doesnt really fit in anywhere particular... it'll probably be randomly stuck at the end of an aisle. It's pretty expensive... probably about $12 bucks for a small package.
That said, im not sure this is the stuff you want... it does have very fine hooks and playing around with a piece i have here, it just barely sticks to my carpet when i really grind it in there. I'd suspect this is a very carpet-specific solution _________________

That's good to know. Any particular reason you have industrial strength velcro just lying around? xD
Do you know of any velcro stuff that might have larger hooks of acceptable strength? _________________

I pretty much have just about everything lying around... that's how i roll
But im not sure about better alternatives... maybe a non-brand name that has longer hooks. Any type of velcro would probably work better on "commercial" carpet like you might have in a dorm room since that has a much more regular shoot loop weave than the kind of carpet you usually have in a house. Anyway, I'm of the opinion that if you haven't mounted your soft pad to plywood you deserve all the slipping you get _________________

Is there any reason why that wouldn't work? |
You know, i was thinking the same thing... but I guess that's kind of a lot of work... might as well just do a real mounting job if you're gonna do that. (unless you really really want to keep the pad foldable or something) _________________

nail that shit down. with nails.
alternatively
move your furniture around it to block it in
also velcro is a good idea but on hardwood it won't do you much good.
you know those semi sticky pads that they have for you to put on your dashboard
try getting like eight of those and putting them under it
it sounds like i'm joking but i'm totally serious _________________
