Gamestop pads?

Hey guys, what's up.
So, here's my situation- Got a few bucks to blow on a new pad, somwhere around the sub-$70 range. Basically, I just want to know the best option that doesn't involve buying anything online.

Looking on here I see some really bad things on the Ignition 3.0. If Best Buy has a warranty on it, it may be worth it. If not, maybe the Pelican foam pad at Gamestop is the next best option- I haven't been able to find any info on this pad so far.

Because of my family, a metal pad and building my own seems to be out of the question, although I probably would like to build my own pad. I'm just looking for the best pad less than $70 that is sold in stores. Mostly I'm looking for durability- It's gotta handle all those Healing Vision attempts (I can pass it, but those beginning streams are bothering me)

Generally, almost ALL pads you can buy in a store aren't that great. A warranty won't make an Ignition 3.0 work any better (I own 2 of them). Your best bet would probably be Fry's Electronics, if you live close to one. They usually have one of their Ignition knockoffs out where you can play on it, and they might even have some metal mats for cheap if you're lucky.

Well, dang. That's what I expected to hear, but not what I wanted to hear. I gotta probably make a decision by Friday.

Right now I think it's unlikely that I get a 3.0.
For some reason unknown to me, my family doesn't think building a pad is an option...

Well, here's what I'm thinking. Since my family for some reason won't let me build a pad, and a metal pad isn't in the budget, I might just get the cheapest decent-looking foam pad I can find since it wouldn't be as big of a deal when it breaks. I was just thinking that if we were already planning to drop 50 bucks on a crappy Ignition (which I don't think I'll allow to happen), we might as well spend 20 or 30 more to build a pad that will not only be better, but will last much longer than replacing a few crappy soft pads.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, I really appreciate it (you probably get these types of questions a lot). I used that guide to mod my old MadCatz pad btw. It lasted for a little bit.

It looks right now that I'll just have to think about it and go hunting Friday.

Also, why can't you build a mat? I know it's your family, but did they give a reason? I was able to talk my dad into letting me build a mat. Building a mat would be much better than getting a cheap Ignition, and it's not that hard, if I can do it anyone can.

The softpads at Gamestop actually work pretty well. Especially the Xbox version, which could easily handle 8-9 footers. You gotta flatfoot though...

The best softpad you can get in stores is the Konami official one. It's still not that good, because it's a softpad, but it's about as good as softpads get. I'd highly reccomend saving your money a bit more (to cover shipping) so you can get a BNS DX Extreme Fusion/Sparkle (they are both the same, but Sparkle is pink and girly and Fusion...isn't). One of my friends got one by my reccomendation after I read good things about it here and we both agree that it's the best foampad ever. But try to play it on a hard floor instead of carpet, any kind of pad will give you better results on hard floor instead of carpet.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll try to post which one I got and my impressions tomorrow. The decision is not completely mine, so I'll try to tell my sister what's up with these pads. I think if it comes down to it, I'd rather buy a GS pad than the 3.0. I'll probably have to mod both anyway.

I was pleased to see that BNS will let you pay with money order instead of using my debit, so that may be a possibility.

All this talk of softpads makes my want to go down the street to my arcade, though. They just got a new Supernova cab.

A Gamestop pad is what I use at the moment. The only BIG problem with it is that it doesn't grip very well. I duct taped it to the floor. It's really sensitive and well worth the price, but sometimes you get ghost arrows.

For the price of the soft pad, you can build a homebrew easily.

Thats what id do if i was on a budget at least.
