My opinion so far, based on what I've read off wikipedia (if the game info is wrong correct me)

* "Barracuda" - Heart - Awesome, such a sick song
* "Cherub Rock" - Smashing Pumpkins - decent
* "Cult of Personality" - Living Colour - hate this song
* "Even Flow" - Pearl Jam - hate pearl jam
* "My Wave" - Soundgarden - meh
* "Knights of Cydonia" - Muse - probably pretty fun to play
* "Lay Down" - Priestess - dont know this
* "The Metal" - Tenacious D - awesome
* "My Name Is Jonas" - Weezer - good. old weezer is good stuff
* "Paint It, Black" - The Rolling Stones - meh
* "Rock and Roll All Nite" - Kiss - kiss sucks
* "Sabotage" - Beastie Boys - i like the band but dont see how they belong in this game
* "School's Out" - Alice Cooper - meh
* "Slow Ride" - Foghat - meh

Cult of Personality this alone makes it worth it to me
the solo is bad buttocks!!

as for all the hatred for the 90s music it seems like most of you kids didnt grow up to these songs
i think there are alot of good cuts i could honestly care less for the Tenacious D song

personally i think Sabotage is in the game for an easy song i mean its just a simple riff played over and over with a small lead

id say the QOTSA song rumoured from the new album will either be 3's and 7's or sick,sick,sick

Cult of Personality and Barracuda will definitely be fun as hell to play. I can see them both being mid-tier songs. Supposedly they're trying to get AC/DC, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin. I hate AC/DC, but Thunderstruck would be nice. I expect no less than Master of Puppets from Metallica. As for Zeppelin, I love them, but if it were anything other than Stairway, I'd be disappointed...but at the same time, I know that Stairway is NOT well-suited for this game at all. Too many slow bits, etc., and it just wouldn't be that interesting except for the solo. Honestly, it would be like Freebird again. Hangar 18 should have been the last encore for GH2, but Freebird was chosen simply because of its status, which I thought was a shitty design choice. But that's just me, maybe.

i kind of agree with you on the metallica thing, it'll cost them a fortune. with zep though, i think it has more to do with jimmy page and robert plant not liking they're music in forms of media like that (i think theres like 3 movies with led zeppelin songs).

but yeah i'd like to see metallica in the game (specifically older stuff like disposable hero's), but not at the cost of megadeth.

IIRC, Robert Plant is the one who doesn't let their music get used. I know that's what happened with the movie Dazed and Confused; Jimmy Page was OK with the song being used, but Plant refused. It's kinda sad to think that they let P Diddy use Kashmir but they might not let their music be in GH.

They've used megadeth and anthrax, and they've said they want to use metallica. It's only logical that they will also try to get slayer in order to have all four of the big thrash bands.

I'm not a huge fan of slayer, but man it would be great if they put some on GH3.
