Alright. I think my carpet is actually 1/4 of an inch thick, but I guess you're right. What's the width and length of the plywood? How will I secure it to the Flux, and how will I prevent the plywood from slipping? I might wait until I get my pad so I can know for sure. I'm pretty sure my carpet is fine because it's pretty much solid, unlike yours which looks pretty squishy. |

Before I add my suggestion, I would like to say that my friend has been playing on her flux for over a year in much thicker carpet, and her pad has yet to crack.
Okay... If you dont want to remove the base and just want an attachment, I recommend buying a sheet of plywood thats a little bigger than your flux in the dimensions. Then, use some epoxy and glue to down.
gg.
Or if you want to be able to remove it, but want it snug.... i know of an easy way.
First, take said "bigger piece of plywood" and place it under the CF. Make sure the flux is in the exact center.
Second, take 4 skinnier pieces, but the same thickness, and place then around the edges of your flux.
Glue the 4 pieces onto the bigger board and wait for them to dry.
Nail/Screw the pieces in after they have dried.
This should make the base fit tight and snug.
Also... I would like to add...
Grip tape works amazingly well on my carpet... Maybe you should try to find some strong tape for it.

Alright, I guess I won't need the base mod then. My carpet is pretty thin and hard. Thanks for the suggestion, I have a load of skate griptape running around, and I can also use Foamtape from a store. Foamtape works pretty well too, I've used it on my softpad. |

I forgot to mention, I'm 6'8" with size 13 feet and weigh 240 lbs, so that could also be a factor with my pad cracking. Sometimes I forget I'm a freak.
(the nintendo is packed up but I've got 721 nes carts. trying to complete the US entire collection) |

Hm...
Im 14, 5'11'' and weigh about 195 and i've been playing on my CF on my carpet for at least 2 weeks... an hour a day.... no signs of cracks at all.
But im planning on building a base mod anyway.... I suggest building one to be safe since its only 20~ dollars |

Now that I think about it, why doesn't Cobalt Flux have premade pads on the shelves and ship them out immediately, instead of building them on the spot? |

Lately, they've been behind on shipment... it could be that they have too many orders and cant build fast enough. |

Oh my god... that means that you will have to wait 6 weeks. That sucks. I ordered May 28th. I guess I'll probably get it during July, which really disappoints me. |

I ordered mine March 8th. If I have to wait until July I'm asking for free shipping or a free arcade style mod kit or something. |

I ordered a doubles pack with the arcade mod kit on 4/14/07. I have contacted cobalt flux several times by telephone and by email. They have been very helpful. The problem is that they have not received the controllers from the manufacturer. I asked if they could send the pads and they did so right away. I hoped they might slip in the controllers, but they did not. So I am still waiting. Their sales department emailed me yesterday and said, "The controllers are coming in this week! Which means your order will be out shortly!" |

I called them last month when they said more controllers should be coming in, and they told me I have to wait until June. |

Do you mean control boxes? If so, there's a chance that even MY pad will go out. It seems like it's a control box shipping problem, not pads (a couple posts back confirms this) |

I just spoke with cobalt flux. They said they are expecting the controllers (control boxes) to be delivered tomorrow and that they will ship them out next week. |

I haven't been able to play DDR for awhile because of my carpet. For some reason, I start in front of the TV and end up under the couch. I ordered my Flux April 9th, and I'm happy to hear that they're coming in tomorrow (well, supposed to.) |

That's great news, thanks for keeping us updated. My softpad duct taped to the floor has been holding up but I'm starting to get insane ghost arrows, really noticeable. Can barely play catas because of it, sensitivity is fine and all but ghost arrows keep popping up. |

I know exactly how you feel. I've been capable of passing ITG 10's for 4 months now, but my stamina is gone a minute into the song because my pad moved 5 feet. |
