I can see why it would appeal to 12-year-olds; however, I don't think they were the target intended. Just because the music isn't depressing doesn't mean it isn't good. The Blue Album is adolescent in its very nature; a look at its lyrics would tell anyone that, and you're preaching the obvious. But the fact they can make music about such subject matter without coming off as whiny or fake (unlike most bands that try today) still speaks volumes. I liked Weezer when I was 12, as I liked No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, etc. I've discovered a lot of new (and even more old) music since then, but I'm not going to discard music that I liked when I was younger just because its lyrics appealed to me at that age. If you can remember middle/high school, I don't see a problem with liking Weezer.
Whatever. You, like I, are posting on a DDR-based board, a game where you step on arrows in a predetermined order to the beat of Japanese pop. Surely if this is not immature, you can agree that Weezer isn't, either. _________________

actually, DDR SuperNOVA only has like 30 jpop tracks out of the 300 some songs on the game. also, when you say "DDR is immature," you're comparing 2 unalike things. i mean, its a rhythm game and its not actually all about the music itself. you dont play DDR solely for the music, you play it for the gameplay. sure having music you like helps, but if its my favorite song and the steps are bullshit, i dont care. it'd make more sence if someone said "i like MCR and weezer is gay!!"...then you could go flame them.
anyhow, enough of this rant. how about back on topic. what are some things you'd like to see on guitar hero 3? well, for 1, i'd like to see a better interface. perhaps saying the songs BPM, original artist, and giving the song a rating would help. not to mention the high score on the song. the simplicity and blandness of the interface is one of the main things i thing GH could (easily) improve on. i'd also like to see some better BGs. for example, if they get the original artist to do a song, don't you think it would be cool to get the video or live concert footage? that'd be a little more entertaining than watching the same band over and over again. and finally, i'd like to see a more varied songlist. guitar hero 1 had a better songlist for everyone than Guitar Hero 2. i thought the GH2 songlist was better than GH1, but i still think that GH1 had a better songlist for everyone. _________________

BPM wouldn't help on a game like this. It would be pointless clutter. The original artist would be nice. What do you mean, a rating? It's in a tier already; that's it's difficulty rating. And they list the high score right next to it, along with a star rating. You'd have to be blind to miss it. _________________

it only shows the record on career mode and coop mode.
also, i thought the tier rating system is very flawed. i'd rather have each song have a rating of 1/10 on each difficulty(as a lot of songs arent as difficult on other difficulties compared to other songs). _________________

One last thing about weezer: I actually like "buddy holly" and "hash pipe", and I think the rest of their stuff is annoying and nasally. pull out all of the statistics (and calling them statistics is a stretch) you'd like, but I don't think chart ratings on billboards and whatnot is anything to go by. Weezer is composed of a bunch of nerds and a whiny vocalist (another stretch), and although that might appeal to their fanbase, they're barely memorable and highly forgettable. Remember make believe? yeah, me neither.
Also, no bpm and I agree with scruffy on the difficulty tier. And for once, jpop, I agree with you. GH1 did have better songs. _________________

If GH3 keeps going the way it is, it's going to have the best songlist of them all.
You can't kill the metal!
The metal will live on!
Punk rock tried to kill the metal
But they failed, as they were smite to the ground
New wave tried to kill the metal
But they failed, as they were stricken down to the ground
Grunge tried to kill the metal, hahahahaha
They failed, as they were thrown to the ground
New wave tried to destroy the metal, but the metal had its way
Grunge then tried to dethrone the metal, but metal was in the way
Punk rock tried to destroy the metal, but metal was much too strong
Techno tried to defile the metal, but techno was proven wrong
Metal!
It comes from hell! _________________

Guitar Hero 3 needs to fix the lefty flip!! It was OK that you had to do it in the options for GH1. GH2 should have made a code to do it or added an in game option, but didn't. Now GH3....
I am simply tired of exiting out to switch a player to lefty every time a lefty wants to play.... also picking a character and guitar every time is annoying.
GH3 should add a stat tracker for your character that you would enter a simple color combination that you choose (similar to the mortal kombat system for player info)
but we will probably have to wait until GH 2008 for this.. _________________

You can do it during gameplay in GH2. Hit pause, go to video options, and turn on lefty flip.
Everyone keeps giving ideas that the game already has. I guess that just means that Guitar Hero II is pretty damned close to perfection. _________________

so guitar hero 2 had a 1/10 rating system, a more varied song list, and a stat tracker(thats a great idea btw)?
i actually made an interface mockup. it's kinda like DDR and guitar freaks merged together and i like it a lot(as well as my rating scale being X out of 10 devil horns...lol). i added BPM, a record window, a difficulty selecter on screen, orignal artist, and the ability to change sorting. im at my friends right now tho so i'll upload it as soon as i get home. _________________

you mean x out of 11...
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven. _________________

What kind of character-specific stats could you possibly need to access? If you're doing multiplayer, you don't need to see anything other than their score and star level. That's all. The 1/10 rating system is stupid, it's taken care of by the tiers perfectly well. And GH2's song list was way more varied than the first; instead of just rock and classic rock, they added grunge, rockabilly, more metal and even a country song. _________________

i thought GH2 had mostly metal and 80's music and GH1 had songs that appeal to just about everyone at every age.
and i think we came on conclusion that the tier system needs to go. _________________

I was thinking of keeping track of songs played, how many times it took you to pass, high scores, lefty or righty, combo, win / loss record, bass / lead preference, and stuff like that.
this way you don't pick anything you just enter your code for your stats.
which could also add character customization (as if it matters) _________________

i dont quite see whats wrong with making the game harder. really, im sure people who've 5 starred everything on expert in GH1 and 2 will be disapointed to see 3 be easier than 2. i mean, i think the game could use a few more "easy" songs(as in stuff like iron man, smoke on the water, ect), but it could also use some really awesome and crazy hard boss songs(rhapsody or dragonforce, anyone?). i think the songlists of 1 and 2 need to mesh and have the game be like 1/4 crazy hard metal for the hardcore guitar heroes(?), 1/4 "indie" songs(you know...the bonus tracks), 1/4 classic rock songs everyone knows and loves, 1/8 songs that are easy to play but still fun, and 1/8th "new rock" music (to appeal to the teenage crowd). just dont put any poopy that doesnt even belong in the game(see john the fisherman). _________________

SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING NEEDED IN GH3
Minimized for emphasis
A goddamn 1st party left handed controller. To hell if they fix the flip or not, its too much a pain in the ass to play that thing upside down anyway _________________
