|

Hi everyone! My girlfriend and I just got into DDR... played it once on a machine at Dave & Busters and liked enough to decide to buy pads. We've been using StepMania with various packs out there (Albumix, ITG, Etc...)
Why is it SO hard to find standard rock / hip-hop / top40 style songs out there? Almost every pack seems to be geared towards j-pop / techno / anime / video game music! Are we missing something obvious?
We LOVE the DWI Extreme series (http://www.dwiextreme.com/). 25% of the songs or so are actually known artists -- Shakira, TLC, Destiny's Child, etc... Are there any other series that are similar out there? |

I love the J-songs and techno.
You can always try searching bemanistyle.com for any kind of song you want, i'm unsure of any songpacks though that contain recent top-40 songs and the such. _________________

Not many of those types of songs are really danceable.
In other news, check the licenses that are on regular DDR mixes and download the corresponding simfiles. _________________

Oh, please don't take my post in that way! It's easy to see that the majority of DDR'rs DO love J-pop and techno (which is why it's so easy to find...)
I just wanted to see if that was consistently true, or if there was some awesome pack series we were missing out on.
And the other poster has a good point... pop / hip-hop often don't have the same driving beat as techno. Still, they can make good songs for dancing. Especially hip-hop... been to a club recently? |

But DDR isn't dancing. If there's no sound to stomp arrows to, it doesn't work. _________________

Well the main thing that the Hip Hop beats can't really be DDR danceable. With rock, some of the songs will be either way to easy or way to hard to dance to.. Monkey punk is a 6 (WORST SONG EVER). The custom song such as Fury of the Storm and others aren't padable. Techno songs and j-pop songs flow with steps easier and more effective. Also, DDR can from Japan and most of the music that little asain boys/girls love is techno... I dont mind and if u want to play some rock songs, _________________

On the contrary, at least hip-hop is danceable. If it weren't, it wouldn't have such a prominent image in the club music scene.

By dancable, he probably means the potential of the song for a stepchart. |

Hip hop does have a slight exclusion with Asletics, though. _________________

I like how everyone thinks DDR is J-Pop laden and yet the amount of actual J-Pop entirely in the DDR series was recently proven to be countable on 10 fingers and five toes. _________________

Besides HipHop is proven to make your heartbeat slower.
I get 'excited by listening to MAX 300 or Pandemonium.
Techno has more of a dance-able beat anywayz.
We know every fanboi dances to Dance Dance too many. _________________

Also, because Rock and Hip-Hop are best when they're full length, which is too long for DDR. Techno ftw. |
