Charlie, 5-ish good songs don't make a good mix. None of the ones you mentioned even tickle my fancy, really. The only two I can think of on EXTREME US that I actually like are Never Ending Story and There You'll Be.

corner buttons- dont step on them. i play on an ignition 2.0 and i can do this without too much hassle.

song list- its all about preference. IMO, some of the best stuff on extreme US wasnt in the arcade/japanese version. move your feet, simply being loved, your rain, you're not here, maximizer, bizarre love triangle, like a virgin, music, planet rock, diving, all great songs IMO. then throw in A, V, tsugaru, .59, absolute, memories, never ending story, theme from enter the dragon, wonderland, there you'll be, and all sorts of other great songs you can play in arcade versions and you have one of the best games they have ever done(and that comes from someone who has imported everything). also, its the only home version with there you'll be.

i dont expect you to agree with me on it being a great game, that would defeat the purpose of everyone having an opinion, but to say the game sucks takes away its credit. maybe its because i have extreme JP, so i'm not bothered by extreme US not mirroring it, but i really enjoyed that game.

That's possible on an Ignition because the arrow panels are raised (and I think they have oversized sensors as well). On a metal pad with corner buttons (like a CF), you can't play flatfooted without getting several almosts/goods per song.

Even with the corner buttons turned off during gameplay (which is possible if you hack your save file or download a special one), Extreme US is probably my least favorite game because I don't like the scoring system and most of the songlist.

I don't really any of the songs on it, and I just can't seem to find fun in playing a 7 step song when I fall asleep halfway through it

Go West completely destroyed EX for me. The interface sucked to, like after you play an edit you have to go back to the edit menu. It doesn't help that the scoring system sucked either.

i'm not trying to say you guys suck for hitting corner buttons, but god damn. before i joined the military i played on nothing but my CF and never had that problem. the first time i passed oni do on extreme US was on my flux. first SDG i got on move your feet was on my flux. my first AAA in extreme US was... on my flux. i have a size 12 shoe and dont hit corners, so if you guys have that problem you have clown feet.

honestly, i think people look for reasons to hate the US version just because its not green with a wheel of songs on the side of the screen yet still carries the name "extreme". a lot of the excuses for why people dont like it apply to games like 4th mix(interface, scoring) and 5th mix(scoring), yet people seem to love those. it just seems to me that everyone complains about its scoring and interface more than the thing that actually makes the music game- the music(if one of you that said the music was why you didnt like it calls me out i'll hunt you down and stab you, as this clearly isnt aimed at someone who says "None of the ones you mentioned even tickle my fancy, really")

what was this topic about again?

If you play on your toes, it doesn't really matter whether the corner buttons are on or off. But if you play in a way that minimizes movement, you'll probably end up hitting the edges of the corner buttons.

i play flat footed. it irritates the crap out of the guy that lives under me too, its awesome.

anyway, youre right about minimizing movement and corner buttons, i just tried LOM on extreme US and hit the corners a few times playing on the insides of the "panels"(what would you call them on an ignition?) close to the center, and i had a few non combos as a result that i dont get on the japanese version when i turn corners off. 9s and under arent a big problem with corners on though.

Okay, that's great. I can avoid the corners too if I really try, but I don't want to have to play songs while going OH GOD I MUST NEVER HIT A CORNER BUTTON BY ACCIDENT SO I MUST PRECISELY AIM MY FEET DIFFERENTLY THAN MY NORMAL PLAYSTYLE.

Kinda takes away from the game, y'know.
