Hi everyone I am regular DDR player who is looking for a bit of knowledge to educate myself as well as others in our comunity here at DDR Freak. I am particulary wanted to talk about the Notes in Dance Dance Revolution.
1/4 - My knowledge of this isn't that great but I do understand this arrow is 1/4 of the beat. So where do we see these ? Are they just normal arrows without the werid colors added to them ? What songs do they appear in ?
1/8 - I think these are basicly arrows you have to step on rigt before you step on a pevious arrow. I think of it as a lesser form of 'galloping'. Not sure but don't these appear more frequently in the standard and above difficulty ? Also what songs are they in ?
1/16 - I don't know much about these arrows except that there possiblely gallops. I know gallops are in True and Rythum and Police so could these be 1/16 ?
1/24 - What do these look like ? Do they exist ? What songs can you view them in ?
1/32 - same as above I don't know if these are existent
1/64 - err . . . .
I am sure everyone here is familar with the partern where you have to hit three arrows in a tapping fashion, I am not sure what those are either.
Also B.P.M (beats per mintue) plays a role of signifcance in this discussion so if you post try to reference the B.P.M of a song you use as an example.
Thanks to everyone who responds in advance. |

24th notes are twice as fast as 12th notes (in Burning Heat), like in Bag, although that's only 65 BPM.
32nd notes are twice as fast as 16th notes. Tsugaru and AM-3P (AM east mix) have 32nds in them.
64th notes are twice as fast as 32nds. There aren't any DDR songs with these. The slowdown in Euphoria is the best example. _________________

Wrong. 1/4 notes are 1/4 of a 4/4 measure, but they usually get the beat.
64th notes appear in bag, by the way. _________________

1/4 notes appear in every song, and are the basis which BPM is calculated. 120 BPM is 120 1/4 notes per minute.
1/8 notes are half a beat, and they do usually appear only in standard and heavy, although a few harder light songs have them.
1/16 notes are a quarter beat, and usually appear on heavy as either:
-gallops
-sets of 3 or 5
- 3/4 beats or dotted 8th notes, which are 3 1/16 notes apart
-16th streams, which are rare in DDR and occur in songs like My Summer Love.
1/12 notes are 1/3 or a beat (also called "triplets"). These are approximated to the nearest 1/64 in DDR. |

ex: Heaven is 57, burning heat, Bag, Ordinary world, are some of the notable one's i'm remembering right now. i know there's more though. _________________

Otherwise, that's the best description I've heard, although there are also plenty of songs with eighth notes on light; almost any 3 or higher has at least some amount of eighth notes. _________________

There aren't that many 3's and 4's on Light that have eighth notes. Heck, there are several 5's, and even one 6, that don't. _________________

QFE. Most of the Light charts that have 8th notes are from earlier mixes, back when Konami's stepchart artists didn't give a shit. | Are you saying they give a poopy now?

Then they are more into the Xbox itself. >_> _________________

The gallops in Da Capo are 32nd notes, same as Tsugaru. The step in the Sakura slowdown is, too. It slows down to 14 BPM on the first note and the step is on the second note. _________________

I think they've been making more of an effort to use patterns that actually follow the music instead of generic eighth streams. _________________

And now, instead of "generic" 8th streams (I found many of them to be quite unique) we have generic charts that go to the music. A lot of new stepcharts have this thing with 12th notes (Morning Glory, Star Gate Heaven, etc.). _________________

Some songs don't call for 16th notes, and therefore don't need them. And the term you're looking for is dotted 8th notes. _________________

I really hate when I edit my post and then someone replies before I finish.
See, the thing with new charts is that most of them go to the music in the same way. In older installments, songs that had "generic" charts still had a touch of flavor to them. _________________
