I'm thinking about getting some iidx. My old ps2 is OOC so I was thinking about getting a slimline. How easy is it too play imported games on those with a swamp disc. Is it as easy as it was on ps1. Also where is a good place to buy import game. Any place that takes a visa debit would be good.

On a slim PS2, all you need to do is cover the various places that tell the system that it's "open" (on a regular, you'd need a fliptop mod). From there, all you need is a Swap Magic disc, which is usually quite inexpensive.

Whats a good cheap way to cover up the sensors that tell the slimline that it is open?

Electric (black) tape.

You can find guides for what to cover up on the Internet.

Is magic keys and a swap magic the way to go? Whats the difference between 3.6 and 3.8? Where is the best place to buy these things? I was thinking play-asia for my import. Are they good and do they take visa debit? Finally what style of IIDX do you reccomend?

If you have a slim PS2, there's a kit that includes three tiny pieces you snap into the PS2. It's a flawed system, but with a bit of extra effort, it works.

If you have a newer model, you might have to get a more expensive version of the kit, but it's flexible with the older one too.

I recommend 10th, because it's got great new songs and a few classics.

As soon as I mod my slimline I'm getting IIDX Red and Happy Sky E1.gif
I need an arcade-style controller though, which are extremely expensive. The controller that came with Beatmania US sucks.

The beatmania US controller is much better than the Japanese versions from what I hear. I think the US controller is great, although I made a few modifications to it. You really don't need an arcade style controller unless you want to be totally hardcore into the game.

Yeah I plan on going all the way and getting good enough to pass the level 12 songs like Mei and Nageki No Ki, something I know I won't be able to do with the regular controller. The buttons are too stiff.

The Japanese buttons are like little clicky ones.

The US are more like smushy.

Japanese > US.
