My TX-2000 sucks.
I've only had it 4 months and already the back arrow is cracked. _________________

So I finally have a problem with my TX-6000. The up arrow is being extremely dodgy and is causing me to get scores of around 70% on songs which I can easily score 90% on. That's a lot of unregistered steps. I unscrewed the arrow and lifted it up, and there doesn't seem to be any damage just underneath where the contacts are, so I think there must be a problem with the wires. However, I'm completely inexperienced with this kind of thing. I don't even know how to get to the wiring! Can anyone help me, because I can hardly afford a new pad right now. _________________

k well today i randomly started frick around with my tx-6000 trying to fix it and my dad randomly came up with the idea to put a piece of paper towel and i think sheet metal in between my A button and my right arrow. and what do you know its back to the way it was like 2 months ago. almost perfect and a couple pad misses every once in a while. i even got like 3 AAA's and 15 greats and a miss on paranoia survivor regular with my bad shoes (my vans when i usually wear nike free 7.0's). so idk that was a random idea that actually worked. now lets see how long this works for. |

BobTheFish your probably have a problem with the wiring. Just like you, my up arrow stopped working. I got it fixed though, and now it works perfect.
How did I fix my pad:
First I filpped the pad upside down. I took a knive and cut almolst half of the bottom open. By doing so I had acces to the whole wiring of the pad. I noticed that 2 or 3 wires were rubbing each other, and the plastick coating of the wires was thorn open.
I cut the damaged parts of the wires and replaced them with new. Then I taped the wires firmly so that they wouldn't rub and break again.
The whole operation took little over one hour. After that, I have used my pad for almolst half year without any future problems. The technology of these dance pads is so simple that they can be ALWAYS fixed. It just requires some time and nerves.
Feel free to ask if you have problems. _________________

My Dad was a little sceptical about your post and seemed to think that you were trying to trick me into destroying my pad. In the end though, we did open it up from the bottom and we couldn't find anything wrong with the wires. It's a shame that my pad no longer has a nice black rubber coating on the bottom, but it was worth a try. I've just ordered a new control box, because that's the only potential problem I can think of. Thanks for the help, though. _________________

New control box did not fix the problem. The response from the up arrow has become even more scarce and is almost non-existant, making the pad completely unusable. Like I said, I've already opened it up from the bottom and I could not see any problems with the wires. If ripping up the sensor is really my only option, then please post the pictures you mentioned so I can be sure that you aren't having me on. _________________

Is this a Tx4000? It looks like one, but there are stickers and is called XPG. Just wanted to make sure. |

Thanks for the help. However, something happened to my pad tonight that has completely confused me, and I really don't know what the problem is anymore. I was looking at my pad again and as far as I was aware, I hadn't changed anything, but there was a big difference when I tried it out again. The up arrow worked flawlessly, but at the expense of the left arrow, which showed no response whatsoever.
Anyone know what this implies? _________________

I managed to get my pad fixed. My last post wasn't completely correct - my left arrow HAD stopped working, but the up arrow hadn't fixed itself. It turns out that the up arrow wasn't working because of the black wire that travels to the left arrow and all of the others sequentially. The left arrow had stopped working because of its own specific wire. So conveniently, both of the unattached wires were beneath the sensor on the left arrow. Looked like the manufacturers had done a pretty poor soldering job. Fortunately, my Dad has a soldering iron, so we reattached them, and now the pad works flawlessly again.
I hope I haven't put anyone off buying this pad though. So maybe it isn't the most durable thing in the world, but any problems should be fixable when you regard the simplicity of its construction. Heck, it still took 14 months for me to even encounter a problem in the first place. In terms of performance, it is incredibly sensitive and is a wonder to use. I play up to 13 footers on ITG and it handles them fine. I've seen many people saying that it's impossible to do hands on it, but that's not true. Slapping the arrows won't work, but giving it a push usually works fine. I'm sure this baby will serve me well for a long time... _________________

Mine recently had problems ghosting and up arrow not working. I pulled the metal sensor to see no problems with the wires, so I looked at the metal arrow itself. The arrow is warped and you can see it dipped down from all the play over months time.
To correct this issue, I put felt bumpers on each corner of the sensor. Seems to work good again.
check the actual arrows and make sure it's not warped like both my game pads were. |

After reading a bit in this thread, I found out that the pad I'm borrowing (yeah right lol, he won't be getting this back til I can afford some DTs >.>) is indeed a TX-6500, and I must say I'm impressed. We're both heavy mode players (I weigh over twice as much as him by the way, at 250 pounds and it still holds up for me) and we usually play 9-11 foot songs, and so far it works perfectly, HOWEVER, if you weigh over 160 lbs. I would NOT reccommend using the bar too hard, it will tip the pad over. I usually just put a chair beside me and hold onto them both, but there's still some wobbling going on. However, I haven't experienced or seen one pad miss on this, pad NG, or anything, and it takes hands as well. All in all, I reccommend it to anyone who needs a metal pad and doesn't want to wait for the DT series. 9.5/10. >.> _________________

does anyone know the wiring schematics of the tx4000? I'm building a homepad and would like to know so it would be compatible with my tx4000. |
