it was because of my brother, he was a ddr freak but now, i dunno.
anyways, i was curious with the ddr thing. i know im a good dancer but why can't i play ddr? that was the question that pushed me to learn how to play that game. after class, me and my classmates, who were also newbies, go to the nearest mall with a ddr machine and practice. there are also some kids/teenagers from other schools who are also addicted to the game and obviously they are experts. maybe for them, we were a trying-hard newbies and maybe we were a laughing stuff for them. it didn't let us stop practicing and learning how to play ddr. until, we tried dancing heavy songs. it is maybe because we are fast-learners. now, we are addicted to the game and certified DDR FREAK. |

I first started playing DDR because of Jesus. :D
Iâd seen the game numerous times at various arcades and liked the idea of it because the music was awesome, the machine was all lit up and intense, and everyone playing looked so fit and hip, but I didnât dare play it since, at the time, I was fat and embarrassed about it. Plus there was always a ginormous infestation of assholes flocking around the machines in every location, so it was more trouble than it was worth for a while. Then, when I was fourteen, my church along with two others held a lock-in at Malibu Grand Prix for their youth groups. Free arcade, food, and racing all night untill 7 am.
At about hour 4 (1:00 am), I got tired of racing and went inside to whore out in the arcade. I noticed they had DDRX2 and not one person was near it, so I went into stealth mode and snuck past all my friends so I could have a crack at the game alone. My first song was Butterfly Speedy Mix, which I failed on Light twice before I passed, my second was I Do, I Do, I Do which I passed on my 4th try, and my third was Speed Over Beethoven, which I passed easily. After a while a kid who I have to assume was maybe 9 years old stepped up and got an AA on a Butterfly Heavy. He was very cheeky, very fat, very 9, very good, and it annoyed the piss out of me. I played for free for the rest of the night and into the morning. I went out that day and bought the PS2 Extreme, and worked my way up from Beginner/Light to Heavy/Challenge in about 6 months and lost 60 lbs.
I usually played with my friends Anthony and Mark, one of which was the national ITG champion in 06, and when you have greatness flaunted in front of you like that, it makes you push yourself. That and he was such a dork; I had to beat him at least once. Now, I play because itâs fun, Iâm good at it, and it keeps me healthy. _________________

This is my first post on DDRfreak. How special.
Anyway: I started playing September 8, 2006. (You do the math).
I started because it looked like fun...I'd watched some youtube videos and I wanted to try it.
I continue to play because I enjoy it. It's good exercise and a nice way to piss off the people who live underneath of me in the apartments. |

It was at least 5 or 6 years ago when I first saw it in the aracdes, and I wasn't really that interested in it for a long time. Only recently within the past few months have I been playing on a regular basis in the arcades near my workplace. It's like my new fav hobby, this thing, good for relieving stress and killing some time. I think I play mostly to listen to the music, though, hehe. _________________

About April 2006, I was hanging around funzville and saw that the DDR extreame was eather jammed or had 20 dollars worth of tokens in there. so me and one of my friends played on it for about 20 mins and i thought it sooooo cool. within a month i had saved up for a soft pad and ultramix 2. i played it alot over the summer but never progressed past light/basic. As school started i left my pad in the back of my closet. Around late october or early november i saw the pad and decided to play again and I got totally hooked and even dragged my sister and a couple of my friends with me. lol. yet i had been playing alot for about 3 and a half months yet was still on light/basic. i was at my best friends house when i found out that his sisters boyfriend played DDR and was easily passing heavy songs so he brought over his PS2 and max2. then gave me some great pointers like not to touch the middle. overnight i was doing standard songs and now im doing 8 footers and one ten footer |

ive been playing since 6th grade. i first saw it at an arcade in mazatlan while i was on vacation with my family, and i was embarrased to try it out...and when i did, i failed like right away
but the next time i played, i guess i got the concept, and i did a little better.
my sophmore year of high school i kinda lost interest, and i stopped playing for almost a year, but my cousin recently bought an xbox 360 and got all the ultramixes, so one day i went over to his house with my ps2 and my ddr games, and we played all night!
after that we both started playing again, and now were addicted again |

Xbox 360 =/= Ultramixes
Unless you meant the Ultramix and Universe series, then nevermind. _________________

You must be talking about Universe, because that's the only DDR game for 360.

Someone in one of my classes was going to the arcade to play and there was actually a small group of people who pretty much knew each other who would get together to play. Some of them were really good. I didn't really know any of them but one guy wanted me to play so he put it on 2 players and set his difficulty to heavy but mine to light.
I started out on 3 and 4 foot songs the very first I was playing, which he said that I was doing very well for playing for the first time.
So I started to play some more, worked up to 5 or 6 footer songs. Then I didn't play again for at least a year.
I picked it up again last year or so and got up to some 9 footers now. _________________

My friend brought it to my house, and forced me to play. I actually passed my first song! It was on light but I can't remember what it was..well anyway during that summer I bought a PS2 just for DDR and played at least 3 hours a day..and progressed to Heavy within 2 months. I lost interest for a while but now I'm starting to play more. I play because it's good exercise and it's fun to try to FC things. _________________

I never got around to posting in here before but I started in October of '05. I had some friends that were really into DDR, so one night when I was at EB I saw Extreme game and pad and decided to buy it. So after many nights of struggling I began to get better. Firefly was my first song, and i never played beginner. I dont remember what I did first for standard but I played A Stupid Barber first on heavy I believe. Currently I'm on a team with some friends that we just started since the old one broke up and there really aren't any in the area. I don't know what else so I'll leave it at that... peace. |

well i started about september of '03...my friend had ultramix and that was the first one i played...for the first couple of months(i think about 4 months) i would only use the controler on standard...
after a while i deside let me try the pad and i started on the pad on started on standard cuz i didnt wanna start on light cuz it was too slow...lol
it was a bit ruff for a lil while but i got the hang of it then after about 2 weeks of that i started on heavy and got better that...
after 2 months of that i started to get bored of singles so i started doubles cuz it looked like fun that was a paon in the buttocks for a while...
the very first AA i got was break down on standard
then it was a AA on my summer love on heavy both on singles and doubles
ever since then ive played DDR cuz its fun entertaining and u meet a bunch of cool ppl...and thats my story and im stickin to it...lol |

I got into DDR about 8 months ago when I went to my cousins house. He had it for 7 years and taught my how to play and gave me good tips.
I got ddr um3 for my birthday, but I stopped because I couldn't do many songs on standard and I started again 2 months later. I got a new pad, played more songs, and now can pass almost all standards and some heavys.
With controller I can easily get AAs on heavy, but I need to work my legs. I still only have my first DDR game and 2 pads, but I might get a PS2 so I can get alot of games.
My favorite DDR songs are by be 4 u. I am also getting a new pad in case I do get a PS2 that is for both PS2/PS1 and for XBOX. I think it is called redoctane ignition 2.0. But what do I know? I still didn't have the game for a year!
