Yeah, that would be the logical thing to do. | And if you still suck with it since they are far more repressed than ITG pads, take off the arcade mod itself... |

Yep.
On-topic, I'm pretty sure I'm keeping my Flux indefinitely. Sure, it may have crappy periods, but most of the time it plays like a $300 pad should. As I improve, I can see that most nc's are now my fault (I still see a few that are random as fuck, like the decent on Flying High that ruined my tristar).
Lastly, here's a small album with my setup, I'll get more pics later.

Hey Bob, you mentioned you were trying to figure out if something was wrong with one of your CFs. Did you ever figure out what it was, and if so, is it something typical of other CFs made around that time? Mine seems to randomly stop responding for a second or two, and I'm wondering if it's something potentially fixable, or if I'm going to just have to order a new control box and wait however long for those.
Open question regarding the above: Are CBox issues theoretically fixable if I were tempted to open the box up and try? _________________

Yeah, it's because eventually the galvanization starts to wear away on the sheet metal under the arrow panels. It's fixable, but it's a huge pain in the ass. I've been meaning to go into more detail, but I haven't had time yet. I probably will soon.

Unfortunately, that's not the problem I was having with my CFs. Mine never stops responding completely; once in a while, it just responds too late or responds when I lift my foot off an arrow.

Probably, if you know what you're doing. _________________

Another open question:
For all the differences people claim between a modded CF and an arcade, to me, I've found the greatest difference isn't indentation at all, it's actually traction. I don't know if it's because I use different shoes in the arcade vs at home (My "home" shoes are a lot cleaner), because I have the black/textured mod (Unlikely), or what, but it seems like I get a lot of grip at home and slip and slide all over the place in the arcade. Is there anything I can do to bring the CF more in-line with the arcade? Wear the same shoes to each, maybe? _________________

To reduce the traction on my CFs, I occasionally take a piece of sidewalk chalk and rub it on my shoes and the center panel. It works really well. I have clear arcade mods, but it probably works with the textured ones too. _________________

I'm obviously new to these forums, and I've just begun to get into the DDR scene, so bear with me.
I have a fairly new dance mat that came with DDR Supernova, but the problem is it moves around a lot on my carpet. It's a hard carpet, not the soft shtuff like the rest of my house. So, it's bearable for now but I don't think it will last much longer. I was thinking about getting a Colbat Flux, or RedOctane Afterburner. My limit is $300 + whatever shipping costs. I want to get something that's going to last quite a few years, but won't crap out on me every few months. The CF is been getting flamed quite a bit, and I've heard quite a bit of good about the AfterBurner. Which one should I get? Why? How much $ + Link pl0x?

My only advice.
DO NOT BUY AN AFTERBURNER. |

Then, an Afterburner is out of the question. I'm probably going to get the Cobalt Flux. It has a 6 month warranty, so if something goes wrong I should be able to get it fixed.
Anyone have another suggestion for a good dance mat? |

Well... I actually did research like this a few weeks ago before i ordered a cobalt flux.
I've narrowed it down to three main choices.
Blueshark by mymybox: Probably the big cheese of the business. 349/399$(depending on which you order.
Cobalt Flux by cobalt flux: was one of the best of the best. I'm not sure about now though. Apparently, some of them have certain periods of time where they stop functioning... or they have sensitivity problems.(I ordered this one) 299$
Nexan by mymybox: This is one i couldnt get much info about, but i've read a few reviews. It's a good pad, and a cheap alternative to a cobalt flux. Comes with a 6month warranty. 249$ |

As much as this might be accurate, it seems that if you get a bad pad or something goes wrong, mmb will not talk to you. Period. |

I've decided to get the Cobalt Flux. Does anyone know what the different kinds of payment methods are? Hopefully not PayPal =/ |

How long does it take to make a control box for the Flux? I'm still waiting for my Flux to come (been waiting since feb.19) it better be a good pad that will last me a long time if its taking this long. |

I'm sure they accept credit card, but if you have a credit card, you might as well get a paypal account, since paypal's more secure anyway. _________________

now that i finally have a chance to get a pad, the CF's seem to be going down the drain...I really need to get a good, solid, accurate pad, and it has to be 300$ or less... My parents are only spending 200$, i have to pay the rest, and it's my birthday! I really need help...I need a GOOD CF pad... _________________

Im not sure thats entirely true. I have a friend who ordered a CF a few months ago, and his was and still is top notch. 300$ performance from a 300$ pad. |
