Fry's currently have 2 of these controllers bundled with DDR Supernova for $109.99. Here is the link: http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4660748#detailed

Per the Fry's link: "For PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Zipper Dance Pad with 1" thick High Density foam that gives the feeling of a thick solid platform with the convience of a soft dance pad is lighter and can be dissasembled for easy storage."

Does anyone have any experience with this pad? I have searched these forums and on the net and did not find anything. Are these being sold under a different name or brand?

I can probably do most 8-footers and some 9-footers but haven't played in a while.

Thanks!

They're basically Ignition softpads. For $110 w/ SNOVA, I'd say go for it. If nothing else, you'll have 2 sheets (or whatever you'd call them) of high-density foam, DDR SNOVA, and 2 chips that work with both xbox and PS2. E1.gif

I have a PS2 and not really interested in the XBox playability. How does the "ignition-type" softpads above compare to http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDR-DXLTE/?

These are the BNS DX Extreme Lite Dance Pad. The only difference I could see from these and the BNS DX Extreme Fusion Dance Pad was the "triple connection" (XBox, PS/USB, PS/PS2).

Thanks.

Ignition 2.0's and BNS pads are the two best kinds of non-metal pads you'll ever find.

The Ignition 3.0's are allegedly crap.

Their design is the same as the 2.0's though, so I can't give you any things to watch out for/look for. At $110 for game + 2 pads, go for it. The game is worth about $40, so that means you're getting 2 pads for $35 each. Even if they're sub-par, you won't be getting ripped off by any stretch.

Before I continue, there's a sticky thread specifically for questions like this: The Pad Arena Thread:Which pad is better? Ask/Find out here!

Anyway, I'm not sure why Gamestop has that image on their site because RedOctane doesn't make that specific pad anymore, and they haven't made it for years now. If you buy an Ignition now, you'll get the junky Ignition 3.0, which looks like this: http://www.redoctane.com/ignitionpadv3.html. In any case, to answer your question neither pad is any good, really. Internally, almost all pads use the same flimsy construction that will be DOA at worst, and last a month at best. The only thing that's different is the branding on the pad. The best bet, from what people are saying, seems to be Buynshop's BNS DX Xtreme. There's a thread for them here: http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=119012

I have an ignition 3... and while i had to modify it a bit, i can play 9's and tens pretty well on it and i've had it since january. I'm not saying its a great pad... but from my experience its not a bad one either. (well, it is until you mod it... the sensors 'sense' too close to the center, which results in lots of ghost stepping... so i had to tape over the contacts near the middle square)
