1. Do you play DDR for exercise or for fun?
I think -everybody- plays it for fun. That's what -makes- it good exercise.
2. How often do you play DDR per week? (An estimate)
2-4 days per week.
3. Do you play at the arcade or at home? (If both, also include which one you play more at)
Actually, I play -more- in the arcade than at home, though I like the variety of console mixes.
4. How did you get involved in DDR?
I tried it while waiting to get my MvC2 fix, back in 2000. From there it became a social gathering point, and eventually spawned a local community.
5. Rank the following from 1-5, 1 being the most important and 5 being the least, of what is most important in a DDR game.
4 - Quality of songs
3 - Difficulty and variety of levels
2 - Number and quality of modes
5 - Characters
1 - A good dance mat / pad
6. Do you wear shoes, socks, or nothing on your feet while playing DDR?
I wear run-of-the-mill tennis shoes for arcades, and sneaker-like slippers called "Happy Feet" for home. They have little weight and high contact area, plus they slide before the pads do.
7. Have you tried other DDR-like games? (example: StepMania)
Plenty. In fact, DDR actually got me spun off on plenty of music-related games, which like fighting games, I can play in spurts or long sessions without being rushed or losing a certain level of freshness/nostalgia to them.
8. Have you lost weight from playing DDR? If so, how many pounds?
Are you kidding? I lose 2 more pounds, and I'll start passing through walls whenever I hold my breath.
9. Are you male or female?
Male, last I checked. Yup, still there.
10. Are you:
-Between 25 and 30 years old
11. Please include any additional comments about DDR.
While the DDRFreak population is very arcade-oriented, I think the variety of console mixes/tracklists does a great job of catering to an extremely diverse market of musical taste. It also does a decent job of balancing masculine and feminine appeal.
The only things I dislike about it are that for the "total" DDR experience, you have to have many (soon to be a half-dozen!!!) consoles, pads, -and- adapters... then STILL be able to hit arcades. Then there's import-mixes and console-modifiers/boot-discs for those. Then there's -still- XBL stages beyond THAT. OMFG-expensive! |

1. Do you play DDR for exercise or for fun?
It's really just for fun. I'm about as healthy as a horse and don't need to lose weight or really stay fit in any way.
2. How often do you play DDR per week? (An estimate)
Actually, not as often as I used to. Usually I'll play a few rounds a week (probably about 4 or 5 at the most)
3. Do you play at the arcade or at home? (If both, also include which one you play more at)
I absolutely love playing at the arcade, but I don't get to one very often, so I mostly play at home on StepMania.
4. How did you get involved in DDR?
I tried out a USA machine in Canada one time and liked it. I tried another machine in Cali and finally fond a mat and game for the PS2.
5. Rank the following from 1-5, 1 being the most important and 5 being the least, of what is most important in a DDR game.
1 - Quality of songs
3 - Difficulty and variety of levels
5 - Number and quality of modes
4 - Characters
2 - A good dance mat / pad
6. Do you wear shoes, socks, or nothing on your feet while playing DDR?
At the arcade, I wear shoes, but at home I slip too much on my pad in socks, so I go barefoot.
7. Have you tried other DDR-like games? (example: StepMania)
First, StepMania is a DDR game for the PC.
I've tried PUMP and ITG. I don't like PUMP very much, and I don't really care for most of the music of ITG. I prefer more Techno, so I stick to DDR.
8. Have you lost weight from playing DDR? If so, how many pounds?
I've never really kept track, but playing keeps my weight constant (around 125 lbs.)
9. Are you male or female?
Male
10. Are you:
-Between 15 and 24 years old
I'm 16.
11. Please include any additional comments about DDR.
DDR is friggin awesome. It got me to listen to more music. It also got me into Techno, Electronic, and Dance music. _________________
1. Do you play DDR for exercise or for fun?
Fun, but it helps my stamina too. =P
2. How often do you play DDR per week? (An estimate)
Uh, 3 days a week maybe, because I only go to the arcade.
3. Do you play at the arcade or at home? (If both, also include which one you play more at)
Only at the arcade because my homepad doesn't work. If it did work, I'd play at home more obviously because I'd have more access to it.
4. How did you get involved in DDR?
I was at the movies with a friend and I saw it, and we decided to play. We became addicted even though we sucked. Then I bought a home version and kept playing up till now.
