For those who have Broadjam accounts, can you walk me through the steps from signing up for an account to submitting a song for the contest?

Some of you may remember me as Helix Eternal from last year but I really didn't post that much so you probably don't remember me XD

Anyway, I'm entering again this year, but under a different alias: H-Corps

Check out the song on my broadjam page: http://www.broadjam.com/artists/artistindex.asp?artistID=44022

Last year, weren't the winners decided by popular vote, or was that just a farce?

It's a bit of a farce. Some songs (like my own) don't actually get entered for equal consideration. Two of my die hard fans/friends spent literal hours clicking away at whatever came down the pipe. They said that they heard numerous mixes (like "Race Against Time" and the Dig Bear song) over and over again. But, they never once heard any of my eight (!!) submissions.

That's why I didn't enter this year. Especially after learning a little more about the selection process on the judges part, and witnessing the favoured selections. $80 down the drain last year. Like I'd waste $160 this year for the same treatment? Yeah, right.

Well, here's the real deal: If you didn't enter a song in the contest you couldn't vote. You could listen to several entries (but they've done away with that this year to avoid situations like this because they probably got a lot of e-mails from people in your situation)
When you voted for a song, it would NOT appear in the list again. User votes probably don't even matter, it might give the judges and idea of what songs might be better. I'm pretty sure ultimately, the judges listen to every song submitted.

HI HELIX ETERNAL!!!

[EDIT] @Helix: You can do better than a remix of Pachelbel's "Canon in D major". If you are going to go for happy hardcore in the style of DDR, go with "Young Love".
...Coincidentally, why'd you kill the Amen break in the middle of "Chromatic Blitz" during the guitar solo?[/EDIT]

Hey everyone! I've got some songs on Broadjam. So far, I've enterred "io", "Star Storm", and "Visions of Night (DDR Edit)". I might also enter "Universal et Cetera", "Plasma Trip", and/or "Liquid Spheres".

MY BROADJAM ACCOUNT

[EDIT] I've enterred "Universal et Cetera", "Liquid Spheres -StepMix-", "Plasma Trip", and "Into the Fray". I'm a lunatic.[/EDIT]

Not true. I had to vote on that ... Dig Bear song far too many times! All aside, if the winners this year are comparable to last year's... I'm just gonna' tip my hat to corporation.

Now that peer review is over, I can post this guilt free:

This is by far the best song I heard this year.
And I mean that.
BY FAR.
If I don't win, This damn well better.

Oh yeah, that sounds like something that would be on DDR, back from when they put on this kind of stuff in relative spades.

Reminds me a bit of "Kind Lady". And other songs that I can't remember at the moment.

Overall, this deserves a "damn!" Now I have to compete with JAKAZiD, Sanxion7, Helix Eternal, AND this. Oh, and you, I guess. I don't think I listened to any of yours, Danceatron. Maybe I should go do that.

When do you think the winners will be announced? Probably in April like last year.

Officially announced? Yeah, April 18. But the winners already know, I'm sure. Now that peer review is over.

So it's the date of the public announcement.

IIRC, the peer review is not the final stage of judgment. Peer review just decides the top contenders, and then Konami has a panel to judge the finalists and decide the actual winners.

And yes, Zeta. You should listen to my songs. E15.gif

"Absolute Zero" is the only one I can solidly envision in DDR. "Binary Groove" is cool, but repetitive. "On the Bricks" was pretty good. "B.U.R.M." is actually not particularly energetic, in my opinion.

Once again, I review music lazily.

Oh, I'm quite convinced the winners know who they are already, because I know both. (or two, not sure if they considered more than two this time around) They want to get a head start on the steps and other media for the songs to be included in the games. More preparation time is better.

Well aren't you going to tell us who they are, then?
Not to say I don't believe you, but... Well, I don't believe you.

There is a review process after the peer review. They said so last time.
I'm sure it's done by now, though.

What makes you think there are only two winners, BTW?

I'm guessing that, if saxxonpike does know, then he won and was contacted as a winner, so that said "head start" could be gotten.

If the winners already knew by March 17th, I just wasted $20 maintaining my subscription fee so I could find out if I'm a winner on April 18th. That would make me rather upset.

That's rather discouraging to know only two winners will be selected (compared to last year's four). frown.gif
